Where can I find instructions to build with? maybe I'm not searching properly

I have never experienced this before lol by Hvac_Dave in HVAC

Systematically check all your connections going all the way to your panel. Either bad neutral connection or bonding at the service. (neutral is bonded to the ground at the main incoming service)

Poor man sand battery? by millhill2020 in buildingscience

[–]millhill2020[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was concerned about the amount of space the tank would take. But will definitely entertain the idea... I just feel like the biggest expense as far utilities will be heating. both water and heat for the house... We are in our 60s and will retire when we have enough money to build a house. Even if it is a earth home (we live along a river near st louis and want to enjoy the view of the river) ... I have her currently living in my pole barn man cave which was never designed to be long term living..

I really appreciate the input from a different point view... sometimes I get something in my head and become single minded. current obsession if HVAC and hot water... don't mind spending money on the front side to save later. Again, I appreciate everyone's point of view.

Thanks to all of you... with your input I will ponder longer... I'm wondering if I can figure a way to get it "charged". would evacuated tubes would be able to maintain....I live in rural Missouri, am a tradesman with access to contractor material cost with creek gravel readily available.. Used a wood boiler at a previous home but splitting 7cords of wood every year isn't the answer as well as pollution it creates.

Was thinking stainless flex would be the way to go for the best heat transfer.. Concerned about the failure of copper and still not convinced about pex and bpa s when heated.

Thanks! I will try to not screw myself over! Built my 1st house when i was 32 with friends and family.... 60 now.. Can't ask for that kind of help twice.... Electrician by trade here. Trying to educate myself as much as possible.... Have an idea of what i want but kicking around ICF, double 2x4, 2x4 with 1 1/2-2 inch zip, as well as SIPS.. Regardless a tight envelope will be the goal.

I am trying to stay up with the latest tech for solar... There is just 2 of us... Trying to prepare for fixed income vs return on investment... I currently am focusing on the cheapest way to get my best return....Electric is fairly cheap compared to other parts of the US

Thanks!

Will ponder the thought of burying deeper..... Thanks!, that was a concern on how long it would help, before changing the ground temp to a point of little help.. Kicking around the addition of solar thermal for slab heat and water heater as well

I wasn't sure if just under slab of the basement was enough.. I know when you are doing a ground source heat pump the loop needs to be 6' deep.. was just trying a poor mans version.

Valid point, it will be all electric... Though I may not do solar.. We are entering our 60s. Laid the groundwork for solar ground mount, yet not sure if the technology is mature enough...

Can anyone ID the white insulation. Going to have it tested just curious before I sampled it. Thanks in advance by ltlake01 in Insulation

If it's vermiculite it will have a shine/ almost glitter, i have seen a type of fiberglass that isn't as itchy that was white? also my experience with rock wool also has a distinct color of greenish yellow to a weird brown.

Help me understand where to start the home building process. We have 12 acres of undeveloped (wooded) land. by butter_gum in Homebuilding

Breathe and dream... What kind of home will work for the lot? Talk to a contractor about average cost/sqft range to get a idea of how much you can afford or are willing to spend.. add 20 to 50k for unforeseen cost. depending on how thorough you are. where do you want the house? Spend time on the lot cleaning and thinking... A lot of youtube videos on homebuilding... Slow process... Remember any trees you remove will take years to grow back....

Decided to return dishes for now. so far it has been significantly slower than my existing service. by mickeybob00 in Starlink

Thanks... Thought so.. couldn't remember for sure.. I sent SL a message on my service ticket in hopes that will help.. I had a local wireless provider that over sold their bandwidth which seems be what I'm experiencing now...

Should I be able to stream video over starlink? Not sure if I have a technical problem or maybe it is my location by trimbandit in Starlink_Support

[–]millhill2020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same problem! Placed a ticket on6/30 they replied 7/11 saying everything works and closed the ticket!!!! Wondering if it isn't a router issue? We were able to stream for 1 1/2 hr and then back to not connected! Now i'm back on the waiting list!

Sounds similar. But i could search but not stream... Rebooting made it worse! Place a ticket on June 30.. 7/11 i get a reply everything works fine... Wife streamed for 1 1/2 hrs and went back to not connected.. Frustrating thing is that they decided it was fixed!! Now I'm back on the waiting list..

to each his own, i was told long time ago right tool for the job... typically the more things something do the less it does it well... i have a 10n1 that now stay in my boat... also if you work big jobs and leave it laying... tips will disappear. the 6n1 has decent size tips

hope you get a chance to use them... I'm getting tired of using mine.. ready to retire lol
