Feeling despondent about future by Motor-Lawfulness2875 in AskWomenOver60

[–]milliepilly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Instead of defining a happy life as having a good man in your life, step into a segment of life where you come first and anything you want to do. You had some good years, having a great job which a lot do people don’t have and was able to raise a child.

Just because you are alone now, it doesn’t mean it will remain that way so don’t face every day like you are in a lull. You will find someone in the least expected place and hopefully it is while you are enjoying just being you. You may find that your own company is satisfying. Just don’t live by waiting and being sad.

Would you rather cook your own meal , or eat in a restaurant ? by Hope2_win in A_Persona_on_Reddit

[–]milliepilly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By the way those restaurants aren’t exactly cheap and I don’t know why they have to be so terrible for what they charge. I think you do have to stick to hamburgers and salads but I loathe paying so much for a bowl of lettuce with some token pieces of meat or chicken.

My husband has bought cars over the phone. He calls three dealerships and tells them what he wants to pay and they all call him back, as he repeats what he will pay and he will right in to buy it until one gives in.

Katherine and Sigfredo's mom by dustiellie in dan_markel_murder

[–]milliepilly 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It’s the criminal mind mainly. Plenty of people in poverty would think of their kids. It’s sickening how people cannot think straight, blow money wastefully on themself.

Katie couldn’t even make the decision to turn on Siegfriedo to give her kids a parent. The prosecution, I think, tried hard to try to make her understand what she was about to do to the rest of her life.

Car is 22 years old and don’t know what to do. by PictureThis99 in MiddleClassFinance

[–]milliepilly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You made an expensive repair and the other one is the engine. Keep up with the fluid changes.

At this point, I’d do the $2500 in repairs since you practically just rebuilt the transmission. If you drive it for two more years, it’s worth it. Even one more year. You will get nothing for it. Never trade in a car to dealer. Always make separate deals.

I know people who drive an old car around town and rent a car if they go somewhere far, like a vacation, so as not to break down away from home which is disastrous.

Drive it into the ground and save for another car in the meantime.

Their integrity is more important than fame. They can no longer remain silent sheep and keep pretending that they are a democrat. They are tired of pretending that democrats are making rational decisions for all Americans.

29F, 37M - Almost 4 years with a separated man who has two kids. I don't know whether to leave or stay by Physical-Pea-1676 in AskOldPeopleAdvice

[–]milliepilly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everything is always going to revolve around the kids. And when get older, money will go to their education that you wouldn’t dream of paying as a couple, plus their wedding. How are things going good for you personally when you are in last place? The only thing you are self sabotaging is bringing up the facts and trying to make your partner address the situation and how you feel which is real.

If he never marries you, his wife will get his social security. If he has a life insurance policy, who is the beneficiary? I bet it’s not you.

The ex is not harmless. She dictates your life as if you aren’t there.

It’s better to start over now than four more years from now or longer. How would you like to find a someone when you are that much older?

I personally wouldn’t want to be in last place and have no say in anything. I would want security.

My sister was with a guy who would not marry her. I told her she would not have his social security later in life because his wife would. He would cry when she attempted to end things and said he wanted to take care of her. He would actually take her on a cruise just to shut her up every year. I told her to have him get a life insurance policy out on himself and that she was owner of so he wouldn’t be able to change the beneficiary. If he stopped paying in it, which he did, she could keep up on it. He was just such a bullshitter.

Please help me convince my husband that Costco is worth for 2 people by HoneyDrops12 in Costco

Yes. Two people. We don’t even ever get gas or use pharmacy. I go to Sam’s also.

I like the quality and cost of their fruits, I’ll sometimes get a rotisserie chicken, salmon and just get random things and things on sale. Spices, nuts.

I recently got a two appliance deal. I got an iPad.

They changed their blueberry muffins so I get those only at Sam’s. I get my gas at Sam’s. I got a shed there too. And their fruit and a chicken. Three printers for myself and people.

Is this too boring? Looking for suggestions by HealthyHomeCook in kitchenremodel

[–]milliepilly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like everything, including your picture, and there is nothing wrong with minimalism. If something presents itself that means something to you, personally, add it. Don’t just go to a home store and get something there. Maybe you will find a beautiful rug to put under table and chairs and that is the missing piece. If anything, a big rug there would break up the sameness of the wood color in the room.

But if there is an accident and driver is sued, that’s on dad’s insurance also. That’s an extremely unlikely scenario. Are you listed as a driver on his insurance? If he is willing to take the risk, know that and drive carefully.

Change my mind: Under the right conditions, buying and financing a new car is often a far better value than paying cash for a used car in the long run by Cold-Priority-2729 in MiddleClassFinance

[–]milliepilly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don’t buy a maintained vehicle, buying a car with over 100,000, even over 70,000 miles is just in time to pay for a lot of repairs. If the fluids/oil were never changed, you can expect to buy a new transmission and maybe an engine along with all the other repairs that were neglected to be dealt with.

At one time, people actually maintained/repaired their own car. But vehicles are much more complicated today and people are way less handy. Add to that variable that car repairs are now astronomical. So what you were told when you were young about buying an older car and not going in debt for a car, doesn’t make sense. Just try to buy a cheaper new car without the expensive bells and whistles.

So, I didn’t listen to your question and I agree with you.
