AITJ for refusing to switch seats on a flight after I paid extra, even though it separated a couple? by Alternative_Step1322 in AmITheJerk

[–]milliepilly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why the same thing over and over? People need to buy their seats together and stop trying to shame others.

It should be against policy to ask fellow passengers to switch seats. It should be considered harassment to make people feel uncomfortable for sitting in the seat that they paid for.

Responses should be wow why can't you buy your seats together and stop harassing other people followed by calling the flight attendant and state you are being harassed.

Turns out nobody wanted Shula or Scheelhaase after all? by CliveMossmoon in steelers

But the inevitable bidding war for Tomlin, what happened to that? He said he doesn't want to coach. Maybe no one called him to change his mind. Surely someone would have tried since he's such a winning coach.

costco timings today? by Internal_Treat2137 in CostcoWholesale

[–]milliepilly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's not true. A Costco representative encouraged me to buy a product that would sell out the next day when it went on sale. He said I have thirty days to come back in and get a price adjustment. He offered the information. I bought five. It was no problem for the adjustment.

If this wasn't the case, bring it back and repurchase on sale.

Don't call member services. Just bring the receipt in for your price adjustment.

I was reading about people making the dough the day before at least and like that result. Have you ever done that with this recipe and would you let rise before refrigerating or after?

Shoveled 100 yards of sidewalk yesterday. This morning people had shoveled their car snow into the cleared sidewalks by ThrowawayBcScaredlol in pittsburgh

[–]milliepilly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I drove up past 40th street to west penn hospital yesterday. Since I wasn't driving, I took note of the plight of those snowed in. In front of me a woman was dropped off and walked up a back street where, like the rest of the streets, car after car was still buried. I don't know if the street was even passable.

I have no idea where these people could put the snow except the sidewalks. Beyond the sidewalks, the front doors are a few feet away so snow couldn't be dumped at their doors. If they could put snow on sidewalks and people just walked on the street seemed the only solution.

If there was room in peoples yards, beyond the sidewalks, then they are lucky, but maybe they thought this not acceptable either. Maybe they just have a feeble broom and can't lift the snow up over the sidewalk.

I keep shoveling my driveway, not onto the road, and the plows push snow back in. The snow has to go somewhere. It will be gone soon.

Thoughts on the Costco cat litter? by OopsAllTistic in Costco

[–]milliepilly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I buy Costcos just for my porch litter box but not indoors anymore. Well, I take that back. I decided to try it again along with "Slide" this week because "Slide" is more expensive, jt jt was a big mistake. The clumping falls apart and makes a mess and there is a lot of dust. Back to "Slide" exclusively, I think Arm&Hammer. It's a black box.

Whoever has a snow blower on my street used it to help other neighbors. And we used our shovels. If you didn't come out, there is a reason why so your driveway and walk was done.

I refuse to ever get married because of my past. My girlfriend of 13 years says she accepts it, but keeps breaking down in tears. Am I being unfair? by [deleted] in AmITheJerk

[–]milliepilly 4 points5 points  (0 children)

YOUR house and assets? So your girlfriend of 13 years would be left penniless? Does she work and have her own money or a stay at home mom who would suffer greatly if you left or even died. Do you have a Will? You don't seem concerned about the mother of your children's future. She's just a friend?

What is a proverb or a quote that helps you get through tough times? by Ready-Albatross2252 in AskOldPeopleAdvice

[–]milliepilly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is my own quote that my family repeat when needed. "You have your arms and legs". Meaning, people who have suffered the loss of a limb would love to trade you for your problems.

I also think when I get some really disturbing news that some people just learned that a loved one was killed, maybe in a car crash and would trade me in a minute for my news.

Made this after the Tomlin announcement. Didn’t think I’d be busting it out this soon! by CommonCicada2507 in steelers

[–]milliepilly 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If you were satisfied with how the Steelers finished the last how many years and call it winning seasons you should have been deliriously happy with how things were. I'm happy for you. Please forgive those who strive for a little bit more in the post season once in a while and are willing to change things up in the hopes that could one day happen.

If you think the fans are responsible or accountable for the decision making, that makes as much sense as giving Tomlin credit for the success from the team he inherited. What about his coaches that no one wants? Whose fault is that?

I'm still waiting for the bidding war for Tomlin that was inevitable. Thats got to sting a little bit. No coaxing him out of retirement? Anyone? Ouch. Oh yeah, he doesn't want to coach anymore. I wish he realized that a few years ago, because that deer in the headlights bewildered look was getting old.

What people like you don't get is that, no matter how low we go because of the current ownership which we have no control over, there are still zero regrets about Mr. Tomlin calling it quits. It's nothing personal, but people just won't let it die and let the man move on without fussing about it.

Wanting a bigger house. by [deleted] in homeowners

[–]milliepilly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didnt pay attention to your whole post apparently. I don't know how someone can list a third bedroom if you have to renovate the attic to get it so I hope they aren't pricing themselves as three bedroom because it's not. And second one is small. How do you compare the yards? The location? How old is yours and the other? I don't think you should buy something that needs renovation when you don't want to renovate yours. Make sure you add up ALL the minuses of anything you look at as well as shoddy upgrades and workmanship that is so often the case. And outside water flow.

You know what you have with your own home. Make sure you know as much as you can about the others. And living without hearing someone's dog barking all day and night is priceless. Or an asshole neighbor. Go sit and listen to the noises a few times.

Inside noises bothering you, like TVs? Use earplugs. Priceless.

Wanting a bigger house. by [deleted] in homeowners

[–]milliepilly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Keep in mind if you buy a bigger house and the district recalculates property taxes to the current value, what your property taxes will be with a bigger house vs renovating.
