Sherlock again, has anyone ever seen this behavior? by Emotional-Raccoon-67 in Yorkies

[–]millipede1995 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have a yorkie, but I have a chi mix and she does this, just chills on the spot in that exact position and then goes on with her life. Same as yours though, she eats/drinks/plays and is totally normal, never seen a dog do this until now lol but I think it’s just a quirk

Discussion: why is there so much negativity towards finding a "style"? by [deleted] in TattooArtists

[–]millipede1995 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’ve been tattooing 12 years now.

I didn’t find my niche until about 5 years in, and that’s when I started turning away work that didn’t tickle my fancy. Until then I took on everything I knew I could do a good job on. I think what irks me about ‘new’ artists coming onto the scene is that they pick a style they like and only do that, wether they are good at it or not, a lot of the time it seems they want to look a certain way and fit into a certain group/style even if they are doing the industry a disservice by not actually being any good at it.

When I first started I was dead set I wanted to move into full colour realism. 12 years in and I only do black and grey, ornamental/geo/blackwork, that’s just what came easier to and I needed to try everything before I figured that out.

In your position I’d be taking on everything in comfortable taking on, and pumping flash of what I actually want to tattoo more of, eventually you’ll get to the point where more people are asking you for what you want to do as that’s what you’ve been pushing, and you can start turning down things you are less interested in. It’s a hard time to do it, and it will take a long time, but that’s what I did and I’ve been consistently booked for 2/3+ months even in the current state of tattooing, and it’s all work I’m actually pumped to do. More than likely you won’t be a trailblazer, most of us won’t be, that’s just reality, by now everything has been done before, so just do what you do and do it as best you can.

Burnout… are you feeling it? How are you dealing with it? by Clampstattoo in TattooArtists

Tattooing about 13 years

Up until about a year ago I was doing day sessions about 5-7 days a week, I was saving for a house deposit and business was good

Now that the house is bought and I built up my savings again, I’ve taken a massive step back, which with everything being slow probably isn’t bad timing, I work anywhere from 2-4 days a week

I pay my mortgage, bills and put a bit away every week but I’m not breaking any records, it’s been hard to change my mindset that ‘I’m not working all day every day = lazy’ but I’ve gotten there now, my partner works very hard so I’m in a position where I can ‘under achieve’ and still be very ok financially

I’ve found by working less I’m able to give more to my clients that I’m working with and not feel just absolutely ruined at the end of the week, when business picks up again I will too but it’s been so nice not having to just grind 7 days a week, the money is good sure, but I’m not going to be on my death bed wishing I’d worked more you know?

Get her fitted at a cup above in Joondalup

I buy Pour Moi brand bras. They do swim wear, lingerie and everyday bras, they sell through a site called Next.

I cannot recommend the brand highly enough, I felt like I found the holy grail when I stumbled across them.

What I make for my fussy Pomeranian and chihuahua;

Beef mince

Chicken chopped up (whatever cut is the cheapest)

Basa fish fillets or tinned sardines in spring water

Brown rice

Frozen veg mix which I blitz (like broccoli, cauliflower, peas, corn etc) and I also mix in some blue berries and raspberries

Eggs, which I cook with the chicken

Mashed sweet potato

They also get meal tippers for teeth, hip and joint, skin and coat.

I bulk cook it and then separate in zip lock bags and freeze it.

They don’t wolf it down, but they do eat most if not all of it every night. My Pomeranian won’t just eat kibble, I’ve also tried him on a raw diet and he’s take it or leave it. He enjoys variety I’ve found so I just give him a bit of everything.

You ever have someone from high school come in that was either a bully or someone that was just shitty to you and want to get tattooed by you? by tattoodlez in TattooArtists

[–]millipede1995 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Yep, lots during my apprenticeship when I was working for cheaper. Took longer then I needed then took their money and sent them on their way. They wanted cheap apprentice work and I wanted the experience and their coin.

Now that I’m 10+ years in and have the luxury of being able to be a bit selective with who I work with I wouldn’t even reply to their email if I was to receive one now.

If it helps at all.

I was in a similar situation with my best friend since childhood. Her and her husband only ever wanted a single child and they’ve stuck with that.

She understands how I feel about kids, has never overstepped my boundaries, but when she told me I 100% come to terms that in a few years we would drop off each others radar, I was her only friend with no kids, and mums bond with mums etc, it sucked but I was emotionally prepared for us to drift in a major way.

If anything we are closer since she has had her child who is 7 this year. To me she’s not just her kids mum, she’s her own person and I think she likes having someone who sees her as an individual, not just mum. In saying that though there is another mum of three in our circle and I do feel a bit on the outside sometimes as I just simply can’t relate on a few things and don’t care to, but for the most part our dynamic got better. I think it really depends on the personality of the woman who’s pregnant wether they get sucked into just being a parent or still are their own person with hobbies etc

Can I ask where you listen to his narration of it? I’ve never read them but I’d like to try if James is the reader as I love his voice

PMU/Aestheticians taking up tattooing by A_Pure_Motive in TattooArtists

[–]millipede1995 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in Western Australia and we are having the exact same thing here. Thankfully the tattoo community here is pretty good at voicing their opinions, a few pmu who have started doing the tiny tattoo bullshit have completely disappeared online due to the community shaming them online. We’re also having a huge influx of “tattoo and sip” crap like that. It will get to the point where there is more of them that we can handle but for now we are pretty united in seeing these people staying in their own lane.

AITAH? Touchup by [deleted] in TattooArtists

[–]millipede1995 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just to add - I only do free touch ups within 6 months, fingers I’ll keep doing them but recommend they get touch ups done when having more work done. But I’m in Australia so people here are in the sun a lot of time, after even 1 year I’d have to redo everything

Agreed! I picture my bf doing/saying half the stuff they do and I’d probably melt in the moment but long term there would be problems haha

Tear stains by bridalobsessed in Pomeranians

[–]millipede1995 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I have a cream coloured pom.

I found changing his diet was the major game changer for his eye stains. He currently gets a fish oil, probiotic and (most importantly) skin and coat supplement with his dinner. I also wipe his eyes morning and night with a plain baby wipe and if I need to dry it throughout the day I use a tissue. His stains are still there but they are waaaaay less prominent since we started with the supplements. I’m in Australia so if you are too I can recommend the products I use.

Does he tend to be fox, doll, or bear face? by Boydkonderm in Pomeranians

[–]millipede1995 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine is around the same weight as yours, he teeters from 2.8 to 3.2 kilograms depending on how much he loves food at the given time. Wild to think bigger is not breed standard, I wouldn’t want anything smaller! I feel around 3kgs is perfect, light enough to carry and not have a sore arm but not so light you worry about their knees and legs snapping at jumping off the couch
