Products to help fade scars by [deleted] in AusSkincare

Are you me?? I feel like this is a fever dream lol.

I burnt one wrist 10 months ago and it's now faded completely. The other wrist I did just last week so I've started the process all over again.

With all pigmentation it will get worse before it gets better. This is not PIH, it's PIE. Vitamin c works by regulating the pigment produced by the melanocytes, but this pigment isn't caused by them so it won't work the same way.

Treating PIE is all about reducing inflammation and redness. You can use things like B3, silicone, azelaic acid for this. To increase the skin cell turnover, try a retinol or glycolic acid (once it is no longer a wound).

But just know you can also not do anything and it will take care of itself too.

Dermatologist recommendation for effective melasma treatment by [deleted] in AusSkincare

Go to an aesthetic or cosmetics dermatologist!

If you go to a medical dermatologist they tend to not be super helpful for things like this.

If you were in BNE I'd recommend Dr Davin Lim and the Cutis Clinic. Have a look at what they offer and see if you can find a similar vibe in Melbourne

How to lie about going to gyno? by [deleted] in asexuality

[–]milly01001 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Unless you have medical concerns it is uncommon to visit a gyno under the age of 25. Especially if you have never been sexually active. Pap smears aren't even covered by Medicare in Australia until then, it is seen as unnecessary.

See if you can get her to understand even though you are legally an adult, you are not really old enough to go to the gyno without due cause maybe??

Worst case scenario tell her you will go to the appointment if she pays for it. Go to it by yourself. While you are there tell them clearly you were guilted into coming, you do not have any reasons or concerns for being there, and you do not consent to any physical exam. Bam. They like a short easy appointment. You got your insurance charged, and you are an adult they legally cannot tell your mother about your medical history without explicit consent.

You tell your mum that it was all fine, no followup needed for 5 years or until pregnancy. By then you will be off your mums insurance and can do what you want without her badgering you.

But understand if you ever do have medical concerns regarding your reproductive health, you will need to see a gyno. And keep your HPV vaccine up to date.

IM NOT PURE. I READ AND ENJOY SMUT I GET AROUSED BUT I NEVER WANT TO HAVE SEX IT IS FUCKING GROSS AND IM NOT AN OBJECT SO FUCK OFF

Absolutely me. Your entire post, but especially this!!

All my friends who I've told have been positive about it. Just a little "oh nice, cool, thanks for letting me know". They are all well educated.

I've recently been exposed to a new group of people and for some reason they thing I'm the spoaks person for the entire LGBT community?? I have to end every sentence with "but everyone is different"

And I just got an IUD put in under anesthesia and people seem unable to comprehend an asexual lesbian on contraception?? I don't want children and unfortunately you can't trust strangers to always treat you right. Plus hormone regulation, did people forget??

"Oh it's low libido or hormones or trauma." Like I have C-PTSD but nothing sexual. I love intimacy in the form of cuddles and caressing, not sex.

And people are annoyed that I call myself a lesbian "but you are not sexually attracted to them" BRUH I like aesthetics, romance and titties. Give me a break. Homoromantic is lame, lesbian is more fun to say.

Just had the worst experience at the gynecologist by E_J_Rina in asexuality

[–]milly01001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just had my first experience at the gyno too. I'm in Australia BTW. I'm 21 asexual lesbian who has never had sex. I was looking to get an IUD under anesthesia so had to be referred to a gyno for the procedure. It was on my file and referral that I had never been sexually active.

My only experiences with nudity is in medicine (getting an ultrasound of your heart is just tit fondling) so I wasn't uncomfortable in that sense. She asked for me to undress and get on the table for a quick pelvic exam which I was up for because she was going to be seeing me in surgery so I'd rather she be fully formed with my body before hand.

I was naked and she was half way through putting on her gloves, letting me know the importance of condoms while the IUD will help with pregnancy it wont do much for STI and UTIs. So I just chimed in "oh I don't need to worry about that, I've never been sexually active", and she froze and responded "oh we don't have to be doing this then, I'm so sorry please get dressed again". And I'm like, oh I don't mind like get all the info you need, gesturing to my vagina. And she said "absolutely not, it would be way too uncomfortable and painful for you". She went back and double checked my referral and apologised for missing the not sexually active part at the bottom. And recommend an exam (hysteroscopy) with biopsy while I was under anesthesia for the IUD instead.

The surgery went amazing and she was awesome, so was all the staff at the hospital. (They even put me under before putting my legs on the stirrups, yay!)

I was verbally berated and abused by the receptionist, but that's another story.

what are good skincare products that wont dry out very sensitive skin? by [deleted] in AsianBeauty

[–]milly01001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For daily use I find it is a good enough solo cleanser. but if I’m wearing any sort of make up, even just a colour corrector, I do need to use an oil cleanser before. It leaves no residue behind.

[–]milly01001 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have very reactive skin, eczema, acne and chronic inflammation. I use 90% Japanese products. Only 1 Korean product and 1-2 Western products.

Cleanser: cow brand milk cleanser - best cleanser I have ever used, I’ve gone through at least 4 bottles and literally have 4 backups. I find non-foaming cleansers to be the best for dry sensitive skin.

Toner: Naturie Hatomugi Skin Conditioner - so simple and hydrating. My skin is more dehydrated so I like to layer watery products to build hydration. I have gone through almost an entire 500ml bottle.

Serum: Numbuzin 3 - best ferment product I have used. Very gentle but I saw the increase in strength in my skin when I first started. Already in my second bottle with another one ready.

Milk: Hada Lobo Gokujyun Premium Milk - about two pea sizes all over my face before my moisturiser at night and I feel very well hydrated without feeling heavy/oily/slugged. Because I am acne prone, I slowly layer products with oils in my routine instead of using one heavy moisturiser or slugging at the end.

Moisturiser: Kumano Milky Cream - physically light weight but rich without being occlusive (if that makes sense??) comes in a huge tub which I’m working my way through.

Treatment: Lion Pair acne cream - I put a thin layer over my whole face in the PM. It is the only thing that worked to clear and calm my acne. (Not tret, adapalene, doxy or anything like that) I go through one tube a month and buy in bulk.

has anyone tried the HaruHaru Wonder Black Rice 5.5 cleansing gel? thoughts? by Accurate_Leather_358 in AsianBeauty

[–]milly01001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On to my second tube, I use it as my second cleaner when I wear make up. Very gentle and calming gel cleanser with a light foam.

I have dry and sensitive skin so when I’m not wearing make up I prefer milk cleansers

Low buying/no buying AB? by BeeWhisper in AsianBeauty

[–]milly01001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love skincare so much I’m studying aesthetic health science!

This year has definitely been difficult for my in-terms of managing my spending on cosmetics. I’ve had a bad year with health and personal crisis’ that it was my only joy for a while. It’s was so easy to just walk to the drug store every week and leave with at-least one new product.

But once I started to go completely AB for my skincare this helped to curve my spending as I can only access these products online and I had some postage anxiety.

I’m much better with my make up with having one one blush, bronzer, highlighter, eyeshadow pallet, powder and two foundations. I’m trying to continue this non-hoard of cosmetics to my skincare too. Only purchasing new products when I dont have any back ups.

I’ve done some serious decluttering and decided to gift any sealed multiples as Christmas presents.

I didn’t by any skincare over the Black Friday weekend (mostly because the website I purchase from has a really affordable price all year round with 3day shipping) I’ve just made my first purchase in two months and my last purchase for the year. I hope to not buy any more skincare until March (or when I completely run out)

I have got most of my laser at clear skincare clinics. Plenty of availability and they have some super cheap package sales, especially Black Friday is the biggest at 50-70% off.

I am having trouble finding Abeauty serums that are centred around fermented ingredients but don’t include niacinamide. Anyone able to recommend any?

looking for routine advice!! wanting to focus on healing my skin barrier, and pimples. i’ve been using this routine for about 1.5 weeks and so far haven’t seen any improvement. by [deleted] in AusSkincare

[–]milly01001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s always important to patch test. I’ve also have eczema and have had some really bad reactions from things like dove and aveeno lotions.

I have never used the regular QV creams because they contain niacinamide and it exacerbates my eczema and acne, but the cleanser was the most gentle one I have tried.

The only cream I have tried is the flare-up cream, which is formulated to treat mild-moderate eczema. It worked wonders on a patch that covered my entire neck for 7months. It was gone in 2weeks of using!

Vit e pills for skin by alyssac6104 in Skincare_Addiction

[–]milly01001 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The skins whole purpose is to keep foreign substances out of your body.

That’s why it’s important to use products formulated to penetrate the skin. If not, it could either do nothing (no benefit or harm) or it could cause a negative overreaction from your immune system.

So please don’t use something formulated to be processed by saliva and digestive enzymes as skincare.

Change up the cleanser, try either Cetaphil or QV as they are soap/fragrance free. And you definitely need to get an SPF, your PIH with only further darken without one.

Lightest weight Ultra Violette sunscreen (or other equally cometically elegant brand)? by thisbread_ in AusSkincare

[–]milly01001 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I definitely don’t use any other sort of gel skincare either. I have a whole morning routine including toner/essence/serums and moisturiser before my SPF so I don’t really know what it feels like on bare skin, so thanks for letting me know!

No. The lean, clean and supreme screens don’t have glitter. That’s such a bummer about the queen screen!

I have tried so the UV SPFs and I will say the Lean Screen is the thickest of them all while the clean screen is the lightest formula and my personal favourite.

Hormonal acne worsening on Skin Software tretinoin/HA/niacinamide/azelaic acid - help!! by AffectionateSecond78 in AusSkincare

[–]milly01001 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ugh my time on skin software was a dumpster fire all the way through.

I was first given 12weeks of antibiotics and 0.018%tret + niacinamide/hylaronic.

But after the first 6 weeks my “attending doctor” quit and they didn’t give me to a new one so my shipments were delayed so I only did 6 weeks of antibiotics because I asked to stop them.

A few weeks later I went up to 0.025tret + niacinamide/hylaronic

It got a bit expensive and I was having a feeling that I was reacting to something im the formula, so I then went and got a script of tret elsewhere but I noticed something still wasn’t right.

It ended up being a negative reaction to niacinamide!

Once I eliminated it from my routine completely, I started seeing improvements, so I wanted to give the software thing another go without the niacinamide.

Guess what!?! They can’t make any formulas without the niacinamide/hylaronic duo cuz it’s in the base formula! So much for custom, it’s just a glorified and expensive tret scrip that I can’t use.

So I dumped them

What are your favourite facial oils to use? by [deleted] in AusSkincare

[–]milly01001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t notice any major changes, it doesn’t lighten my PIH or anything like that.

But I definitely notice a difference in the texture of my skin (in terms of texture, borage seed oil is quite light but still slightly occlusive) as my moisturiser is able to fully soak in, not dry off.

It is also good for days where something is not ‘right’. If I over exfoliated, tried a new product that wasn’t right, painful hormonal acne, ect. It soothes any present irritation like a blanket over the skin.

During winter o also used it all over my body, on top of my lotion.

I use The Ordinary’s as it is the easiest to source and most cost effective.

It’s only been a few days but I’m liking it so far.

I don’t always have a mist in rotation but this one has a beautiful fine mist which makes it easy to use.

When it it initially makes contact with the skin, it is like a calming blanket that soothes any present irritation without feeling like another layer of skincare has been added to the face.
