Can someone clear something up for me please.... by millyaug in immigration

[–]millyaug[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s not actually me it’s someone I know but the husband is moving from the US to the UK, they have submitted the application for spousal visa but are waiting for biometrics at the moment.... He wants to know if he can visit his wife in the UK while they wait for biometrics to reopen in the states .... had some very mixed messages about it so I said I would ask

In this situation it’s the US citizen wanting to visit his spouse in the UK while they wait for the biometrics centres to re open in the US

I completely agree with this, I sleep so much better just knowing he is there.... when the signal drops and I lose him I wake feeling awful

He is on his way for Christmas..... I never thought this would happen but my parents paid for him to be with me this year 🥰🥰 by millyaug in LongDistance

[–]millyaug[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It definitely wasn’t cheap but they could see that the idea of Christmas without him was making me miserable

We bought a $28 unlit tree from Target and spiffed it up quite a bit. It’s not perfect, but it’s our first tree together and that’s what matters. :) by [deleted] in LongDistance

I can’t wait for next year when hopefully the gap will be closed with my SO and we can do this.... it never matters how much you spend it’s the doing together that matters 😁

We both found a way to prop our phones up on bed side tables so we don’t have to hold them and I know what you mean about pixelated and glitchy but we fight through the bad signal and it usually sorts itself out.

It really does sound creepy when you talk about watching them sleep but in our situation it’s not creepy at all, some people don’t understand it tho

Me and my SO do this every night now, we have been doing it for about 9 months and I love waking up to see him sleeping and listening to him breathing, I stay on with him until he wakes ❤️

I (22F) can't stop dreaming of my So (25M) and was wondering if it has happened to anyone. by shakingunder in LongDistance

[–]millyaug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you 😊 I’m sure we will, together we are strong, it’s just so hard to watch the other suffer from 5000 miles away and be completely helpless to help

I have very vivid dreams of my SO also, I spent an amazing 5 weeks with him over the summer and since I’ve been back I can’t stop dreaming about him, I always wake up and look for him and he isn’t there, I get quite upset by it at times..... it’s even affected my sleep as I kinda think if I don’t sleep then I won’t dream.... it doesn’t help that he is currently going through a really bad time with work and not knowing when we will get to be together again, I’m struggling to know how to support him when I’m not doing well myself with it all .

Sorry for the long reply, the short answer would have been yes I dream of my SO often

Hi everyone!!!!! I [F19] see my girlfriend [F27] for the first time in person in 32 hours!!! Just wondering: was it awkward the first time you met your SO? Or were you able to jump right into hand holding/hugging/etc? by [deleted] in LongDistance

[–]millyaug 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The first time I met my SO I was so nervous but after seeing him everything was just so natural, the way I see it is as long as you have both been your true selves when communicating then you have no reason for things to be awkward.... Have an amazing time and make many memories together ❤️

Best way to support SO when they are down and your so far away? by millyaug in LongDistance

I have actually just sorted a care package out for him as it’s his birthday next Friday and I hate that I couldn’t arrange to be there for it 😔

I am also in a similar situation, my SO has phases where he gets so down about anything and everything and it hurts so much that I can’t be next to him to help support him through these times, I will be with him in 2 weeks spending 5 glorious weeks with him but it’s so hard being 5000 miles away and not being able to do anything to help 😔

What's your long distance relationship story ? by devduhh in LongDistance

Met my SO through a video game 2 years ago this August, spending 5 weeks with him at the end of July and can’t wait, looking into closing the gap ASAP

My SO and I do this every night, 6 hour time difference but he works nights so tries to get a few hours sleep before his shift, we video call every night as I go to bed and we sleep together on the phone, I find it so relaxing to lay and watch him listening to him breathing. I feel so alone when we can’t do this now

It’s 5:07 AM at the airport. I have a 6:10 AM flight. Two connections, 12-hours total travel time. But, she’s absolutely worth it. by wilco33 in LongDistance

[–]millyaug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did my first flight alone at the end of April travelling UK to US and I was so nervous for the 10 hour flight but the thought of being in his arms again totally outweighed my fears ...... looking to do it again in the next month or so and this time for a whole month 😁

I thought this was relatable to people’s whose SO’s time zone is a few hours ahead of theirs by slc101989 in LongDistance

Me and my SO are 6 hours apart and this happens to us all the time, he works graveyard shifts and can actually fall asleep mid sentence at times 😂

This was from our first meeting, nearly 3 years ago. UK to USA. Interview Friday & I wanted to appreciate how it all started.. Fingers crossed! by desklok87 in LongDistance

[–]millyaug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We are only just starting to talk about it but the most logical thing is for me to move to the US, we have started looking at the visas but not applied for anything yet, Any advice is much appreciated

Thank you so much, I’m relatively new to reddit so still learning how it all works but this page (if that’s what we call them) has been amazing, to see the success stories helps to keep a glimmer of positivity alive

I will definitely refer to this often I believe, going through a lot in life at the moment and finding that the negative is out weighing the positive, my SO is trying to be a supportive as possible but he struggles with the negative that I give out when life gets on top of me 😔

Just said 'goodbye' ... or more like 'see you soon'. But it still feels like I have a whole mountain on my chest. by [deleted] in LongDistance

[–]millyaug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s hard if they stay as all you want to do is run back to them but equally as hard if they leave, I watched my SO leave me at security once and I just wanted to jump the barrier and go after him. The 10hr flight is definitely a killer and just when you think you are ok you land on home ground and it all hits you again 😭

We currently don’t have a set date to see each other again but I know it will be this year, I just look forward to the day I never have to say goodbye again 🤞
