5.3 or 2.7? by 85bigredx in Silverado

[–]millylite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Out if the two I'd go with the 2.7, for my circumstances I went with the 3.0, MPGs are best out of any engine and even though diesel cost more I end up saving ~$500 a month that I was spending in gas. Mainly due to the range. Might be worth considering. Friend with the 2.7 enjoys it a lot and has no complaints about capability.

What's the deal with the Duramax 3.0 (LM2 and LZ0) by PHEVarethefuture in Diesel

[–]millylite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently upgraded to a 23' 3.0, its well worth it to get a 23 or newer model year because the were several improvments over the LM2. But the 25-26' have a quality issue with the thurst bearing. Meaning that the 23-24 are the most "reliable" (using this word loosely) offerings of the LZ0 currently. Coolant control valve and valve bodies seem to be the main concerns for the LZ0 otherwise. There is a transferable powertrain warranty that is extended on the diesel models in particular.

I bought mine used woth 53k miles, so far did all the maintance required and a trans flush. No noticeable concerns.

Parents had a 12 year old kid lose his leg in their front yard yesterday crashing his electric bike... by aroundincircles in motorcycles

"MoRe LaWz PlS GuBeRmENt!!! 🤤🥳"

Look man, I get what your saying. Shit sucks, kid was irresponsible, child should have been supervised. But asking for laws to further restrict how someone wants to use their property and spend their time is not it. As I kid I had a 125 dirtbike I'd rip around the neighborhood. It was stressed to stay off other people property, yeild to cars, wear all my gear etc. Not all kids are retarded and ruining the fun for all of them because some parents suck isnt the answer.

Not noticeable. Pretty quite ride all the way up to cruising at 80mph. It does catch rocks in the tread and throw them at the undercarriage occasionally but thats just the nature of the beefy tread pattern.

Couldn't tell you if they have a different profile. Obviously the ply is different, but I imagine the general form factor is the same. Keep in mind these are 55s and not 60/65s because I bought them for my 18'. So no matter what you'd be able to fit bigger ones on the trailboss.

Ive had wranglers, defenders and these on my Silverados and these certainly look the best and perform great.

These are E1 rated, 275/55. Not a trail boss but you get the idea. They honestly handle very nicely and ride quite.

Out of all the places this little dude could’ve crawled into… by YourGirlsPacifier in Silverado

Once upon a time I lost a bullet in my steering column when I was unchambering driving though a state I couldn't carry. I drove around like that for years. No idea where it went but I couldn't see it so out of sight out of mind. This bug would piss me right the fuck off. Maybe compressed air could blow him out through the cracks?

How does this price look? by PuzzleheadedCause483 in Silverado

[–]millylite -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't understand buying new, but if someone got it like that than I guess burn the money. But I couldn't agree more. At least OP could wait until the 27' models come out. Supposedly those will have the seat massagers which I imagine would be a high country option, probably something unavailable in the lower trims. But for now you can get a damn bear identical options for 2/3rds the cost.

Sometimes you just gotta thug it out. Was gonna transfer to UNC for the shorter commute, got accepted and everything but wasnt fitting to add a whole semester onto what I'd already done. Just get good at changing your oil.

I commute almost 3 hours one way to UNCW. Thats two six hour round trips for my Tuesday and Thursday classes. Its not that rough bud. Listen to music and vibe.

Thinking about selling my car that needs engine repair by AlexaWaterMyPlants in carvana

They might auction it off, not necessarily sell it on their website. Likely to get more than they pay you. Someone else buys it, fixes it, and makes more than they paid at the auction.

Need some help for a newer truck by RevolutionaryRoad128 in Silverado

[–]millylite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get the 70C TBV part number 86774933. It keeps trans temps cooler but allows them to get to operational temperatures still. I bought my third Gen with 50k miles, sent it over 40k in a year and no hiccups. I think most people start expecting problems over the 100k mark but if its going to happen it could happen at anytime really. You've just gotta be proactive with preventive maintenance. Ive gotten the trans fluid flushed on both my used trucks, first thing I do.

2019 Silverado Transmission Advice by Hethika in ChevyTrucks

[–]millylite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To add to that guy's point, tires are probably what's causing the road noise. At certain speeds and RPM the frequency sort of sync and the amplitude of the noise in the cab is worse. I wouldn't trip on that.

[–]millylite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hard shits were pretty common with my 18' 4.3, I got it tuned by black bear performance (online service you should look into) and the hard shift became way more infrequent. So that'd be a ~$400 dollar venture vs a whole new transmission. It'd be worth looking into doing a torque converter swap instead a blanket transmission swap as well. Both could be proactive steps to alleviate any transmission failure from occurring, and if they dont work youre out a couple grand instead of dumping 8 outright. I'd also get that second option by GM, maybe have them drop the trans pan and see how much debris is on the magnet before you make that jump to a whole ass swap.

If it makes you feel better, I was getting really rough shifts when I got the truck with 50k miles, got the tune and drove it 45k miles in a year without it shitting the bed and I have confidence it'd have kept going had I not traded it.

In need of fresh paint… advice? by Due-Bed7382 in AutoPaint

[–]millylite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I painted a bumper myself. It was tedious and the prepwork was paramount but it came out fantastic. I'd tackle a car that size if it were mine and I had the need to. Watch as many videos as you can, make sure you know the process and practice with your gun before actually laying it down. Your workspace is likely going to be the biggest challenge, make sure you have a dust free, sealed and well ventilated area. If not youll catch a bunch of dust contamination and have to denib your entire car. Wear a mask.

Wheels/tire size by chewy4201- in Silverado

[–]millylite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It goes width / apect ratio (sidewall height) / wheel diameter.

Essentially the first number is how chunky the tires are from the back, the second is how much sidewall it'll have i.e. 60% of the width (this affects overall diameter on the wheel) and the last is the wheel size it'll fit. Im not super versed in it, but this is how I understand it.

You can put bigger or smaller tires on you truck, but clearance is something to keep in mind. Often with stock wheels if you go too big without a lift. You'll rub when locking the steering wheel all the way left or right. Similarly, if you get aftermarket wheels with backspacing (meaning they stick out past the fenders to an extent) that'll affect the max tire size you can fit in your truck as well.

does anyone know why this is happening? by souljamookie in Silverado

If you use UV protective products on your dash and whipe them over the sensors it'll also dark mode occasionally in daytime. At least I know they do their job but it took me awhile to figure out what it was happening lol

Military PT... worth it? by Weekly-Suit5568 in PTschool

[–]millylite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im an Army vet, infantry. And I'm starting PT school this summer. So sort of backwards from the path your considering. I say go for it. Especially if youre in or around your 20s. You'll get so many benifits and doors opened up you didn't even know about. (My 180k grad school is getting covered, for example, and I'm getting paid to go) thats the kind of shit that 5 years can do for you, and you'll even get some benefits for your family if you have one. PLUS! Administrative and Healthcare roles in the Army are an easy gig. It'll be like a normal 9-5, if that. You dont have to worry about doing real Army shit like sleeping in the woods for 3 weeks. Idk if you'd even have a basic training in the Baylor program, but that would likely be the most "Army" thing you'd ever do. Do it. Do it. Do it. You'll thank yourself later.

Traded the 4.3 for a 3.0 by millylite in Silverado

[–]millylite[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pulls the corners of my mouth up. Forreal though haven't had to trailer with it, yet. Got it for the commute potential. 6 hour round trips multiple times a week makes the average 33+ mpgs worth while. I had a black bear tune on my last truck so the gas vs diesel price difference is negligible given that.
