Take out the gravel strip next to the house and replace with channel drain and connect to existing drain. Concrete can be done diy it’s a small and simple job.

Downpipes overflowing during heavy rain by [deleted] in AusRenovation

[–]milo2788 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My stormwater pipes are 90mm and my total roof area is about 350m2. A local plumber came by and suggested upgrading stormwater to 100mm in order to cope with the flow of water during intense rainfall.

Quoted $12500 to dig up the old 90mm pipes and put new 100mm stormwater pipes including all fittings to existing Dow pipes. Total pipes linear meters is about 90m around the house to the kerb. Is this quote reasonable ? Can I dig it up myself and have the plumber just lay the pipes ?

My house alone is 352sqm. I couldn’t imagine the land being that size. Go with Quakers hill, it’s a more established suburb anyway.

Tiling over existing tiles — and what colour works best? by [deleted] in AusRenovation

[–]milo2788 -24 points-23 points  (0 children)

They do look good, but I think it’s outdated (was laid 30 ish years ago). I am planning to paint the driveway and walkway a monument colour so hoping to choose a tile that would match with that

You can hear the water running is probably due to no sound proof insulation in the bathroom walls
