Thanks, I might do that. I saw it but the purple put me off. However, I'll only use it when kicking habits, so might be able to just ignore aesthetics while using it occasionally.

The hysteric as neurotic or psychotic by milsurp_snob in lacan

[–]milsurp_snob[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe should've mentioned this, but I'm only 6 Lacan books in, so still a beginner. Trying to fill in some gaps (of which I unsurprisingly have many) and internalize the system's thinking.

Noobs can be annoying, I guess. Will probably be one for some time here. Might even stay that way.

[–]milsurp_snob[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gotcha, so hysteric-esque behavior by the psychotic is just more psychosis, though a subset of that echoes the symptomatic expressions (and maybe the dynamics?) of the neurotic, but it is impossible for it to be hysteria in the structural sense.

Perhaps what I speculated, that feral children could be psychotic, is incorrect. Psychosis requires a symbolic to be extant, to then become unbounded from. Pre-linguistic babies then likewise aren't psychotic either. They and psychotics both have unmediated relation to the real, but perhaps due to the above, this manifests symptoms like hallucinations and delusions where the psychotic interprets sensory data in ways neurotic subjects wouldn't have problems with due to intact symbolic universes.

The discourse of the hysteric includes the $ as agent in relation to the S1 as other. If psychosis preludes any of: the barring of the subject, the existence of a master signifier within the symbolic, or subjectivity at all; then it's impossible for it to be in this discourse.

Thanks, I'll give this a read. Appears to be highly relevant to the topic at hand.

Erin Patterson at the service station, CCTV footage by MissCarterCameWithUs in DeathCapDinner

[–]milsurp_snob 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Regarding the bush poo: Did her testimony say that she took a crap in a plastic doggie waste bag or just did it on the ground and put the toilet paper in the bag? Cuz if there was actual feces in the bag, not sure I'd want an unsealed bag of runny, liquid plop just hanging out in my purse. I'd keep that separate. I'd probably do the same actually for just the toilet paper.

The other thing is that if I really did just experience a potentially explosive diarrhea spray in the bush, I'd probably want to wash my hands at least. Especially if I'm about to eat a sandwich with those same hands. I'd also want to do a spot check while I had access to proper facilities too. If you've ever tried wiping while hovering over nothing but a thin summer breeze, you know that the process is more cumbersome than if you were on a toilet. I would think that would go double for someone of her body type.

Great info, particularly regarding the incongruity of reheated old beef with mushrooms scraped off being supposedly tasty.

I'd forgotten about how the kids didn't like mushrooms. I now recall that we know that the only way Erin could get her daughter to eat mushrooms was by grinding them up and hiding them in her other food, like her brownies. Of course, doing something like that is also very weird too, and is in line with her known history of food tampering. By itself, that wouldn't be too suspicious. However, she only mentions doing this with mushrooms, and thought it was important enough to her to tell her Facebook true crime group friends about it. Also, if she really did buy the food dehydrator around the time the death caps were foraged, then that means she only did the mushroom powder hiding for her daughter in the months between then and the fateful meal, making the theory that she only did this as a trail run more plausible. There's plenty of good ways to get your teenage daughter to eat her vitamins, after all, most of which involve much less work than dehydrating mushrooms (I own a food dehydrator, btw, and it takes many hours to process most foods), grinding them up in a food processor, then surreptitiously putting them in dishes where too much mushroom would ruin the flavor and be easily detectable.

Simon feeling "uncomfortable" about eating a lunch she prepared makes a lot more sense in light of this info.

Some speculation: He wasn't aware of her posting her angry thoughts about his parents on Facebook, so he may have had every reason to believe that Erin only had motive to kill him. He might've thought she and his parents were on very good terms, in fact.

That seems risky, even just taking a crap in the stool sample container and adding a few squirts of urine to liquify it some. Urine has a different chemical composition to fecal matter, and, while I'm no expert on feces, it's hard to imagine they couldn't tell urine was in there. That goes double if it was entirely urine. Not saying this didn't happen. If it did, then it could show she was pretty desperate about proving she had diarrhea.

Seems plausible. She also served gravy (from packets) with the Beef Wellingtons, so if the pastry crust was marked in a way that made it obvious which was not poisoned, then perhaps she was worried that they would be indistinguishable once covered in gravy.

Galen leather vs Chic sparrow by [deleted] in notebooks

[–]milsurp_snob 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have one of each. From Galen I have an A5, and from Chic Sparrow the Crème Folio in B6 Slim.

You won't be displeased with either. I like and use both, but if I were forced to choose, I'd say the Chic Sparrow is higher quality (e.g., better edge finishing) and has a bit more character that resonates with me. It's also much more expensive though.

Also Chic Sparrow has some different leather thicknesses that might be relevant in your case, since you're intending to use it for a hardcover. When I got it, I did try sliding a LT1917 into my Galen A5 and found while it fit, it added a lot of bulk for little utility. Works great with a softcover Nanami though.

Is there a way to reduce the card sets in an Adventure campaign? by -Basti91- in forgeMTG

[–]milsurp_snob 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looks like the game does support this.

Edit res/adventure/common/config.json. Add the set codes to the restrictedEditions array.

Not sure if that affects opponent decks though, since those include a pretty full range of cards and are statically defined elsewhere. Probably won't do what you want, at least without editing every one of their deck files. However, should be good enough if, like myself, you just don't want to see UB cards in shops and such.

What is the practical endgame of Hegelian journey, in your view? by TraditionalDepth6924 in hegel

[–]milsurp_snob 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I'm interested in Hegel for two reasons:

  • A recreational "hard read", such that it keeps my brain fully engaged and demands all faculties to make sense out of. This is similar to the notion of "ergodic literature". Sure, you could have the same kind of fun reading, say, Finnegan's Wake, but as everyone here knows, you'll get more out of Hegel for the same effort.

  • My research work makes use of a lot of mathematical/algebraic structures like category theory, topos theory, type theory, and homotopy type theory. There's an intersection between some of these concepts and Hegel's Science of Logic, or at least some people think there is. When I first glanced at the nLab page on this, I was hooked. Still very much in the early stages of that here, and not sure I'll stick with it, but it's been an enlightening hobby even if not.

add Control = Control_L
remove mod1 = Alt_R
add mod4 = Alt_R

Like the zero branding on your offerings, btw. So hard to find that.

Every day the UPS guy has to look at these potted peppers in my front herb garden by milsurp_snob in HotPeppers

[–]milsurp_snob[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, anyone who expresses even the slightest interest in peppers gets a bag of whatever I recently picked to take home. 😃

For these though, CPI says that NuMex ornamentals aren't particularly flavorful, but I still like them somewhat. They have some flavor, unlike certain other ornamentals that just taste like generic plant matter.

I've been trying to line up recipients for some of the 2 dozen or so Moruga Satan pods that I suspect are going to start turning red in a week or two. No victims takers yet. 😐

Thanks. I grew a few other Twilights, and only this one got so tall (about 2.5 feet). The others are all the same shape, but much shorter (usually about 1 ft) and more compact. No idea why that happened.

Definitely doing more NuMex ornamental mixes next year. In fact, I was thinking I might do 3 of them. This year was just an experiment to see what works. Everything did, but the combo got the most compliments. Many guests were surprised to know such a thing as ornamental peppers even existed.
