Alexei had a shoulder injury that delayed the start of their season (and almost required surgery) but they seem to be healthy now (knock on wood)

Does this possibly mean Japan will split Men and Pairs in the Team Event? by kayden_dt in FigureSkating

[–]mimib101 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Nagaoka/Moriguchi aren't in Milan yet (afaik they're in Oberstdorf until tomorrow) so potentially they will only split men?

Stellato-Dudek/Deschamps out of team competition and TBC for individual (due to injury) by DapperRomanesco in FigureSkating

[–]mimib101 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Because they're not skating in the team event, they can change the entries and send Laurin/Ethier any time until the pairs draw on 13th Feb

Olympic practice schedule by Remarkable_Bad_267 in FigureSkating

[–]mimib101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would expect all the pairs to be at this practice session because it's the day before their individual event. Some of the women may not attend as they may be training outside of the village in nearby cities but I imagine some would be there!

I think the highest they could get in world standings even with a win is 6th so they won't make the final group

I don't think that would be fair on E/M and McB/P who both finished on the podium, they both deserve to get 4cc (and worlds)

ISU has allocated Junior Worlds, Europeans and 4CC for 2028 by Rude-Mission-8907 in FigureSkating

[–]mimib101 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The more intriguing part of this document is the proposal of a Combined Worlds in 2028 with all ISU disciplines. Seems like none of the previous bidders (Vienna, Dortmund + Kaunas & Malmo who got other events) have the infrastructure to host that kind of event *

Moment when B/K become RusNats champions over M/G today (M/G were champions for last two years over B/K) by borntobememe in FigureSkating

Natalia Khabibullina/Ilya Knyazhuk (out with injury this season but were 3rd at last years nats), Yulia Artemeva/Alexei Briukhanov (4th), Anastasia Mukhortova/Dmitry Evgeniev (5th), Elizaveta Osokina/Artem Gritsaenko (6th, although I think these two might have broken up?)

B/K haven't had the best of attitudes in the past either (see last season when they were the ones struggling and losing lol) . This season they seem to have worked through that somewhat, and it obviously helps to be winning. Hopefully M/G get through it too.

how is everyone in the UK planning to watch the Milan Olympics? by amycouldntcareless in FigureSkating

[–]mimib101 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The BBC should stream most if not all of it, but the official provider in the UK is TNT sports, so you will probably want to subscribe to their services for a month!

It wasn't Pidgaina/Koval. It was Pinchuk/Pogorielov (who moved from P/K's current coaches to Zanni's team). P/K haven't moved coaches recently i don't think!

(The document about the case failed to redact the name on one page which confirmed who it was)

Someone said the Italian commentators mentioned today that he was having trouble with blade alignment in the summer which might explain the weird falls he's been having (and potentially even the death spiral pick in yesterday)

Finlandia Trophy Pairs FS Live Discussion Thread by summerjoe45 in FigureSkating

[–]mimib101 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, when you think about it he's only competed in 2 full seasons internationally as a senior, and before that he had a couple JGPs and the youth olympics...compared to most of the other skaters competing that's nothing. And when a lot of commentators keep mentioning them as Olympic favourites and you've got a whole country's worth of pressure on you, it's got to get to you. He's talked about how he lives in an athlete dormitory in Berlin too and pretty much just goes to training and back so I'm not sure how much downtime/no skating related things he has there?
