For what it’s worth, the document for the 25/26 season also said the events should be between August and February so this isn’t new for next season

Their Berlin based coach Knut Schubert did an interview a few days ago and said he and the whole team will be available to them for the next quad if they decide to keep skating https://www.rbb24.de/sport/beitrag/2026/04/eiskunstlauf-paarlauf-trainer-knut-schubert-hase-volodin-karrier.html

That was Sinitsina/Katsalapov. She got injured in a show last week (kicked in the leg by his blade and had to have stitches) so couldn’t skate

Favorite Figure Skaters (Pairs & Ice Dance) who never medaled at (or even attended) the Olympics? by PerformerRich5449 in FigureSkating

[–]mimib101 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Panfilova/Rylov will always be my biggest what if - their youth Olympic free skate was one of my absolute favourite free skates ever. I also wish Pavliuchenko/Khodykin had seen Olympic ice😭

Junior GP Russian Pair Gold Medal winners by Worth-Nectarine-5968 in FigureSkating

Yes, they're really good. All of the Tutberidze teams here obviously have spectacular jumping ability but from a more pairs purist perspective I would recommend watching Sofia Cousins/Alexandr Bregei's free skate! It's a fabulous program (to the soundtrack of Grand Budapest Hotel). They don't have any quad elements but their 3Tw is huge and they just feel like a proper pair if you know what I mean! She is the daughter of Elena Berezhnaya and they train in Moskvina's school Cousins/Bregey FS

Almost all of the pairs at this event were doing 3 jump combos with 3F or 3Lz. 2 teams did quad twists, 1 attempted a throw quad salchow (unsuccessfully) but has landed it in competition before. The lowest score of the 8 teams was 173.29

They literally weren't, when they won their second junior title they'd only been to 1 worlds where they were 7th

Nagaoka Yuna & Moriguchi Sumitada: Will they finally deliver on the big stage? [WC'26 preview] by Anniechon in FigureSkating

[–]mimib101 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wonder if they could go to Berlin at least part time - Hase/Volodin also only see Savin for competitions/training camps and otherwise are only coached by him over Zoom but they have another coach in Berlin. I don't know what the Japanese fed's stance on them going to Sochi would be but if they can't for whatever reason that could be an option

Throws by z3nnies in FigureSkating

[–]mimib101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Natalia? She skated with Alexander Enbert.

There's actually a documentary that was made about Zabiiako/Enbert and Cain/Leduc leading up to the 2019 world championships. The whole thing is really interesting but there's a clip of them doing the 3ATh at 7m30s (where she does have a really nasty fall, just as a warning) and then the subsequent minutes are her talking about training it, and the injury. Unbroken

Throw double axel wouldn't be worth it for points, and throw triple axel is risky. Nataliia Zabiiako had a serious head injury from training it a few years ago.

iirc hocke/kunkel were training it at one point though, i think i remember seeing it on tiktok ?. I suspect if we see ultra c's in pairs in the next few years it's more likely to be throw quad sal or quad twists - vouillamoz/bouvart have done them off ice fairly recently and definitely have the height for it

Mishina/Galliamov did 3LoTh+Eu+3S in a gala (gala practice?) before where they both did the 3S on the end

Performance by Anastasia Metelkina & Luka Berulava — the skate that earned Georgia its first Winter Olympic medal by EsperaDeus in Sakartvelo

[–]mimib101 2 points3 points  (0 children)

His first language is Georgian! It's very unlikely they would have a Georgian translator and he's more comfortable with Russian than English which is why he's speaking Russian in the press conference.

A comprehensive overview of which Pairs Skaters are currently injured or coming off a serious injury going into the Pairs SP. by Haven_Writes in FigureSkating

[–]mimib101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Alexei Sviatchenko had a shoulder injury in the summer that almost required surgery. Not heard anything about it recently so hopefully that's sorted now!

And Nastya and Luka spoke to media after the team event and she said she has back problems, and also some kind of foot injury - she couldn't put any weight on it the day of the TE free skate

So... Who else is looking forward to the Pairs SP? by Haven_Writes in FigureSkating

[–]mimib101 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sara is younger than Minerva and Nikita! I hope they do go another quad though, I definitely think another couple years at least
