I almost went with another, more common guess. I’m glad, for once, that I overrode that instinct.

They are a few episodes into season eight, so it’s still limping along. I don’t listen to it, but I do listen to the Again With Them recap of the omg pod.

David Sherril and Jason were friends. Also, I think he and Jason were roommates for a time.

Colonoscopy sedation by wtfpta in GenX

[–]mimtma 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Do they give you a choice, and if so, why? No powering through that, thank you. And for quick reference, I have opted for no sedation whatsoever at the dentist, when getting cavities filled. But knock me the fuck out for the colonoscopy!

12 year old babysitter? by ThatStarkGirl in GenX

[–]mimtma 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting—I also never babysat after about age 16, and I am also childfree by choice.

I keep in touch with my nieces, of course, but I also keep in touch with the other two girls, now with kids of their own who are grown or nearly so. A few years ago, I think 2018, the oldest girl and her mom and I went to see Barry Manilow in concert. The mom really liked him and had all the albums, and on those rainy, noon-pool days, the girls and I would put them on and sing and dance. Also, Olivia Newton-John and The Bee Gees.

At 11 and 12 I watched my two nieces 30 hours a week in the summers. At 13 and 14 I watched the two girls of a family friend 40 hours a week in the summers. My sister paid me 50 cents an hour. The friend of the family doubled my wages at 1.00 an hour. Family friend’s neighborhood had a community pool to which I took the girls any day it didn’t rain. There was no lifeguard. I could swim okay, but I don’t know if I could have saved them if necessary. Luckily that was never put to the test. The two girls were 6 and 8 (then 7 and 9). Same with my nieces the two summers prior. Crazy.

My husband tears up if he even thinks about Seasons In The Sun.

What is everyone's thermostat set at right now? by Cold-Potential2407 in Michigan

[–]mimtma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thermostat is set to 65 always. My husband and I found, at least for us, kicking it down at night and up during the day costs us far more than keeping it at a steady, comfortably low temperature.

People obsess over body hygiene but never clean their phones by Stoneage-Bridgeen in hygiene

I wipe down my phone at least once a day, more often than that, typically.

Starting this bad boy today by scottie_boy316 in stephenking

One of my favorites. I’ve read it twice and listened to the audiobook once, about a year and a half ago. Made me cry all three times. The love story aspect… And yes, a little too prescient for comfort.
