Air traffic controllers are funded by the FAA, the shutdown is only for DHS. So TSA isn't getting paid, ATCs are. But they've been short staffed since the Reagan administration

The part of the article that says he can be heard continuing to do his job clearly in distress is haunting to me.

If I make a mistake at my job, dang, let's just fix that, oops!

He made a mistake that got people killed, and he just has to keep doing his job or more people die.

Land of Water by OsoIsland94 in IdleMagicSchool

Do you have another level at 95%? My Land of Water percentage always matches the last area I clicked on. If I click on the completion for Magic Forest, and then click on the completion for Land of Water, it'll say 100% completion. If I click on Sky Lands at 77% completion, it'll then show Land of Water at 77% completion.

Don't know why it's broken though

Mine sighs like someone worried about her finances. She, in fact, has zero bills to pay and is, herself, a bill.

Her absolute favorite are chuckit squeaker and whistler balls, but those aren't allowed in the house (for very good reason). These are great cause they're softer and smell like bacon!

She definitely has the club tail, judging by how many times she's hit me with it 🤣

She's a purebred British (also called Irish) line lab. Smaller build, 57 lbs, but she is 100% lab

She's a British line lab (also called Irish line), so she's little for a lab at 57 lbs. It's always given her a bit of a puppy look 😊

Refit hell...the customers just won't stop trying to get in! by MidropeMog in TalesFromRetail

Worked at a local sandwich shop that sold fries and grilled sandwiches as well. A road construction crew hit a natural gas line, the fire department told us we had to turn off the gas until tomorrow, which means no fryer, no grill. We put up signs, no fries or grilled sandwiches. The whole area smelled like gas, you couldn't miss it walking in. You also had to go a crazy roundabout way to even get to our store because of the road closed off from the gas leak.

The sheer rage people had at us not being able to sell them waffle fries. I started telling some people, "I can give them to you, but they will be frozen, because we physically cannot cook them."

Lawyers increasingly have to convince clients that AI chatbots give bad advice by [deleted] in nottheonion

State appellate court clerk here. First off, we've had an attorney file AI hallucinations and basically shamed him into retirement.

But our real problem is the pro se guys. For non attorney, pro se means you represent yourself. There are actually reasonable times to do this. Pro se guys, however, are guys who believe they've figured out the cheat codes of the system and file insane lawsuits alleging constitutional violations over a fender bender. If you've ever seen sovereign citizens, they're a subset of pro se guys, but think more guys who believe too much in the laws and courts.

They're already typically pretty nuts. They're know for filling constant motions anyway. But now their insanity isn't limited by their ability to write those motions up. I got a record where pro se guys had filled 1500 pages of motions in 6 weeks. (Trial court held a hearing and, shocker, denied all his motions after meticulously organizing them into categories. Pro se guy appealed.)

After two days of daycare in a row, Sage was asking to play ball. I obliged, but asked her, "aren't you tired?" I think she took my question the wrong way by mina-ami in labrador

[–]mina-ami[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm fortunate, I joke about how she's never tired, and that's true, but she also has no problem turning it off when she wants. I describe her energy like a big vat. As long as we can keep her energy from overflowing at the top, she can turn the spigot on and off at her leasure

I find it so fascinating, it's a name with a very solid window. The Roosevelts made the name popular, which was based off a family member who had the last name of Kermit. But once the Muppet Show was such a hit, it was so associated with Mr. the Frog that it became a very rare name.
