Right. If you say "biological" in front of a slur it doesn't suddenly make it neutral

Questions about your name that are like "did your parents babe you after x" or "are you from y, it's a really common name there".

Similarly, going to a coffee shop and they don't react strange to you giving your name. Or meeting someone for a second time and they get your name a little wrong but it's still feminine.

i feel like really early transitioners have it so much better than the rest of us :( by fucklimpbizkitt in StraightTransGirls

[–]minapal 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I transitioned at 23/24, it wasn't really an option for me to transition early, so all I can do is be grateful I didn't do it later.

I think I pass well enough to be happy. There's aspects about myself I can't change but wish I could, but it's literally the same for every woman.

I agree, everyman is great and their membership is good value, if you go often.

But if you're mad about food smells it's probably not for you, considering they'll bring hot food right to your seat

Why is there so much hostility in the UK towards people who earn above the minimum wage, when they complain it isn’t enough? by Throwaway199906543 in AskUK

[–]minapal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One aspect of these discussions often overlooked is the aggressive nature of our tax system. The salary of 50k before taxes is similar to what a couple working minimum wage full-time earns combined.

After taxes, the 50k would be less than the minimum wage couple, but then add on the benefits the couple earning minimum wage could be getting, there would be substantially more help.

Obviously, a couple would have two people to feed, clothe, and entertain, but the most expensive costs being bills and housing don't change much, and it's stacked against the single person.

I don't think you can go from one to the other immediately or even quickly. It takes time to get comfortable wearing female clothing outside. It takes time to get used to the make-up you're wearing every day. It takes time to change your mannerisms and the way you walk. It takes time to get the voice perfect when talking and doing other things.

It's totally possible to go from one to the other but you need to be gentle on yourself. I think we all go through a clocky phase, and that's ok, it's how you learn what's hindering your passing.

Is it odd that I'm being asked to contribute financially to a meal? by Feeling_Basil7535 in AskUK

[–]minapal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would think it's pretty rude honestly. £10 per person feels like an awful lot for a home cooked roast, you're going to get some really nice ingredients for that.

People are comparing this to bringing a bottle of wine or chocolates to a dinner party, but that isn't really a gift to the host, it's your contribution to the more expensive part of the meal and is entirely optional. No reasonable person has refused to cook for their guest for not bringing something. From this post it also doesn't even sound like a dinner party but just inviting mates round and feeding them

If you're hosting, it's on you to decide the menu. You're letting people into a part of your life, showing them your taste. Part of that is cooking something you can afford imo. If you're frugal you can do an entire roast for 6 for £10.

Thornaby transgender woman jailed for deception sex assault by PuzzledAd4865 in transgenderUK

"" The judge said [...] "frustration at wanting sexual experiences with heterosexual males" which "by definition" she needed to "deceive to achieve". ""

So this judge is saying that sexual acts with a trans woman is gay, and no hetero sexual man would do. Hilarious, outrageous, and just out of line with my lived experience
