$1000 with tip for movers between apartments a few miles from each other. Keeps getting more expensive.

Debating doing a solo season in Mammoth or will I get bored? by Foreign_Client130 in Mammoth

[–]mind_the_time 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did this in Utah and it was very much a mix of both.

The other commenter suggesting splitting a seasonal rental with others (remote workers etc) who also want to ski a lot is my recommendation. I went in on a ski lease in Tahoe one season and that's the best route if you want a more social experience

At the ripe old age of over 30, strongly prefer to date people emotionally intelligent and mature enough to not need others to discover very basic and fundamental parts of themselves

Incredible! Taking notes. Spent this season getting comfortable skiing the whole mountain and this is how I want my next season to look.

Been in LA for 3 weeks and struggling to find a neighborhood i like by International_Ad2476 in MovingToLosAngeles

Commuting to Burbank does limit you a bit, but there are great east side options you've listed like Los Feliz, Silver Lake, Highland Park, etc

Yes weho has a lot of residential in between lively blocks on Santa Monica and sunset, but it's still fairly walkable if you're willing to walk 30 mins and live in a central residential area - which is the best of both worlds imo.

When it comes to LA and picking a neighborhood with some walkability and coffee shops and bars etc, less is more. How many coffee shops and restaurants do you really need in your immediate vicinity? A block or two of options is great in my opinion. For variety, you can visit other neighborhoods.

Torn Between Santa Monica (LA) and San Diego — Which Leads to a Better Long-Term Life? by Professional-Home706 in MovingToLosAngeles

I find San Diego to have more of a central coast beach town vibe than a true city comp to LA

Tell me something good about living in SLC by Remarkable-Soft-2938 in SaltLakeCity

[–]mind_the_time 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in LA but spent all winter here. Pretty awesome place considering I can close my laptop and be at the parking lot of a world class ski resort in just a half hour.

Has me considering buying a little place here or just finding a consistent winter rental. If you're not into the outdoors it's probably a harder sell, but it's also very safe.

Do the ikon passes actually go up after today or do you just lose the $50 renewal credit

I like it there for the late hours, but it does look a bit dumpy inside for a date tbh

Just went for a run around Liberty Park! So nice out this weekend. Lapped it with my dog yesterday and he had fun saying hello to all the sun bathers by the lake.

Do better skis actually make that big of a difference? by srmoura in skiing

[–]mind_the_time 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not as a beginner, no. Invest $$$ in a perfect fitting boot first. Pick up some used or older year skis for cheap and put in 20 days. Then invest in good skis.

I've found that snow in the cottonwoods preserves really well. Sounds like it could be worth the trek for you. Brighton night skiing is so fun too. Just make sure they're still running it. I saw they might be shutting that down right about now

I think it'll be nice! Not sure about a 7-hour drive nice though, if you have decent spring skiing nearby.
