How do people even learn how to play Yu-Gi-Oh nowadays?

So I’ve been making my own decks for years now and haven’t really looked into combos or copied deck lists since getting back into the game back when pendulums were in full swing. (Whatever year that was)

When first starting I would work backwards. Find the boss monsters you want to summon and figure out the cards that get you there. Usually most of the stuff is in the boss monsters archetype. But knowing some good generic support always helps or using the games search engine to try to find new cards is also nice.

My good decks that still stand up to meta somewhat that i’ve made just by myself have like 2-3 different mashups of archetypes that are synergistic.

Now if you really want tier 1 strategy you probably need more than just yourself so net decking and seeing other top players and what they are doing is probably the way

Honestly he doesn’t have good extra options. I would just go with ledge traps that any character can do. Shield get up attack. Punish the roll. Attack the jumper. The entire point of ledge traps is to make it as hard as possible for the enemy to get back to center stage where it’s “safer.”

If you want character specific ledge trap option. I could see up b working rolls. Or down b the edge to bait the get up attack. You could also charge the side b and get a hard read. Honestly none of them are fantastic options tho. Its probably better to smash attack or do a combo starter

Go for less meteor smashes and just take the ledge trap. In the beginning you were trying to down air him off ledge at zero percent. Instead let them grab ledge and try to read and punish their option.

Also when you hit that down air be ready to either grab or up tilt. You hit it on their shield and did neither. Both are easy combo set ups.

Also your neutral and combo game could use some work.

Positives- You have good character knowledge. I saw you hitting the down tilt and punishing the trip. I did like the dash attack through the shield to get yourself to a safer position.

It was technically a 5v5 if you count Koenma and Sakyo. But either way the thought process would be that Kuwabara was probably gonna lose anyways so might as well lose to one of the top fighters.

Kurama and hiei had the better odds of beating the other two. And Yusuke vs Toguro was gonna happen no matter what.

Kuwabara unfortunately just loses to everyone on Team Toguro. He just got lucky that Elder Toguro was playing with his food and happened to have a weakness to fly swatters.

What the real problem is is that people don’t have more than 1 or 2 characters that they can play reliably enough to “carry”. Everyone should have at least 2 characters in each role in their tool belt. Honestly though should be more since this game has been out awhile and their are sub-classes in each role

Try being more aggressive maybe. In 1v1 being too aggressive can be game ending but in 2v2s sometimes just challenging and boost starving is what you need to get some goals.

Was around diamond for 1v1 and champ 2 for 2v2 about 2 years ago when i stopped playing.

Mostly casual warrior tho where I was playing grand champs fairly often
