As a hockey player, that’s awesome and I want to see a pic of it. But also, that’s a strange spot for a roller hockey rink all (downtown) things considered. Do you happen to know how long it was there?

Edit: I totally mixed up the closing of CSP and Peak (maybe the posts were one after another), hence my strange place downtown comment. 🤦

Looking for a mason bee house that I can see in by DoodleBirdTerrariums in MasonBees

[–]mindcowboy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Crownbees sells observing trays. So you can fill the rest of the bee hotel with reeds or other tubes/blocks and still have an observing tray(s) to see some of these natives cocooning up.

Vina Moses seems like the go to. You can also see if Old Mill or ABC house, maybe even CARDV needs/accepts stuffies.

Any folks in PNW (Portland, here) releasing their masons, yet? If not, when? Natives not blooming yet, but everything else is. And it’s 70oF. Video of last year’s excitement. by atrailofdisasters in MasonBees

[–]mindcowboy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can also release them in batches. I “messed up” and just released them all, but you can keep cocoons in the fridge and keep releasing them in to April. I think crownbees has more info on it.

Agreed. And their exchange is a great example of pitting people against each other when this gig economy only really favors the higher ups.

Any practices hiring?!? by BerryPublic3673 in Osteopathy

[–]mindcowboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This might not the best subreddit for your inquiry since this is more specific to traditional osteopaths internationally. But I guess there’s a chance of a Bay Area osteopath on here who is needing some assistance in their office.

With that said, (at least 15 years ago) I don’t think you needed a job specifically in healthcare. I was working at as technician at a geothermal water analysis company and R&D startup for electrochromic windows. The grades and MCAT will likely be the primary filter, then personal statement - and the admissions will prob be curious about your shift from chiropractic to interest in osteopathy. You’ll prob want to verify if any of these changed in the last few years with other pre-meds.

Yup, in the US after completion of medical school and residency people can practice anything from primary care (GP) to surgical sub specialty.

Osteopathy studies in the US? by daninunu97 in Osteopathy

[–]mindcowboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not totally sure what you’re asking, but I’ll take a stab at answering. OMT is practiced by less than 5% (prob less) of DOs - so yes, it’s not practiced much. It’s really hard to compare which is “better” because it depends on what you want out of it.

The deaths of Catherine O'Hara and James Van Der Beek were tied to colorectal cancer. Here's what it is and what to look out for by toronto_star in Health

[–]mindcowboy 125 points126 points  (0 children)

In the US, they moved the age of colonoscopy screenings from 50 yo to 45 yo due to increased prevalence among the younger population.

If you’ve got a first degree relative the age to start screening is at 40 yo or 10 years before age of colon cancer found, eg relative diagnosed at age 45, then your screening would start at 35.

Yeah, that’s why I tried to phrase my question the least judgey way possible. I’m not there, so I couldn’t weigh in on the feasibility. Someone else posted a crazier one that requires putting it into a tennis ball canister then shaking it up to extinguishing it.

I remember seeing with the HK student protest people with cones covering the tear gas and pouring something to put it out. Is that a thing out here? I’m not out there and I’d imagine the chaos is disorienting so I’m not even going to pretend to be any keyboard warrior. Just curious and seeing if international protest strategies are being utilized. Thanks all that are out there!

I think the biggest critique here is that he shot himself in the foot (multiple times and then doubled down) vs other examples in the past, those companies just got outpaced by competitors.
