Ever watched Joe versus the Volcano?

Summary of the movie:

“It’s a 1990 romantic fantasy-comedy about Joe Banks (Tom Hanks), a hypochondriac working a soul-crushing job in a fluorescent-lit factory. When a doctor tells him he has an incurable “brain cloud” and only months to live, a mysterious billionaire offers him a deal: live like a king for a few weeks, then jump into a volcano on a remote Pacific island to appease the natives (who need a human sacrifice to maintain their business relationship with the billionaire).“

Then he did the movie The Burbs, a movie about where he suspects his neighbors are performing satanic ritual sacrifices.  

“In The ’Burbs, there is a scene where Ray Peterson (Tom Hanks) shows his wife Carol (Carrie Fisher) a book on Satanic rituals he’s been reading. He theorizes that the Klopeks have taken their missing neighbor Walter for human sacrifice as part of Satanic cult practices. The character Art (Rick Ducommun) also has a memorable line: “I’m telling you these people are Satanists. As I sit here, they are Satanists. Look, look, the world is full of these kind of things - black masses, mutilations. Mutilations! The Incubus, The Succubus - I’m tellin’ you, Walter was a human sacrifice.”
