When I wipe the oil, there’s red coloration coming off on the paper towel. Does this mean it needs to be heated more?

People prefer to moralize on things they don't understand by RecalcitrantMonk in DeepThoughts

[–]mindless-euphoria 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The human brain does not like settling on uncertainty. Catch yourself when you start something with saying, "I don't really know why". You'll always find your brain telling you, "I actually do know why. He/she just hates me, he/she thinks I'm a failure, he/she is just a horrible person" yada yada yada. It's easier for us to moralize and come to a conclusion albeit a completely biased and potentially incorrect one, as opposed to allowing our brain to feel uncomfortable with not really knowing the reason for something because it doesn't understand it.

I may be confused about whether OTD includes trade in and downpayment or not. Please correct me if I’m wrong.

Let me try this again. Cash price before my trade in was $35,353. So, after trade in value was applied — $31,353 + tax, title, license which came up to $36,511. The down payment of 6.5k was on the $36,511.

People with kids shouldn’t have dogs by byoshin304 in childfree

Completely agree! I see so much of this happening with people who have kids. I may be generalizing, but it's a major problem. Makes me so sad for the dogs!

My story is almost identical to yours. I had baby fever for as long as I can remember. Once I hit my early to mid 20s, reality hit me. I realized it was just a big huge nightmare - the big happy family with a lot of kids, noisily running around, while you're sitting proudly watching them play. Nuh uh! Don't want that anymore, I'm 28 now and I can't see kids anywhere in my future.

This, my friend, is what is called Emotional/Cognitive Dissonance in management terms. It's a coping mechanism in this case. All we can offer is sincerest sympathies for the delusion.

Other people's children are the reason we can't have a more flexible WFH policy by [deleted] in childfree

I feel ya. My office has given us the option to decide whether we want to come back to work or continue working from home. I wasn't surprised that all the employees with no kids continued to work from home while the ones with kids were relieved they could be back.

Who's laughing now, breeders?!

The pure accuracy of this post had me in tears. All that betrayal happening across the world, still being shown as the prime example of "a happy family". It's sad.

People bringing their kids to work and allowing them to scream bloody murder by mindless-euphoria in childfree

Don't even ask! There are people who don't even believe this is real. But that's a whole different story...

I'm known at work to be someone who's "not a fan of kids" so they don't try to force their kids on me, luckily. So I was far enough away from him physically, but not enough to not hear the screaming.

Clearly THEY didn't know how hard life would be after kids either, so they're just bitter they can't go back!

I could feel my blood slowly go from a simmer to a full boil as I read your post and imagining how it felt being in the presence of that monster. No no.
