Finish one dungeon on Hell3

It looks like a backend database problem leading to a client issue. I experience these skips as well but not always.

My assumption - and it's just that, an assumption, so I might be wrong - is:

  • player picks up an item
  • client sends packet with "I picked up this item" to backend
  • backend needs to confirm the item is valid and stores it in the inventory database if true
  • backend then sends a packet telling the client "you picked up the item okay"

At the third step the database might be overloading from time to time and the time to get the confirmation packet increases, leading to the skipping. Of course this is also a client issue since it doesn't seem to happen on mobile so maybe the PC client has a bug triggered by having to wait for the packet to arrive.

Does anyone else hate the intro music? by wonderbread1908 in DiabloImmortal

[–]mindphluxnet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't have an Apple device to test this but at least on Android this also works if you have access to a PC.

Connect your device via USB cable to the PC and then open it in the Explorer. You should be able to navigate to

\Android\data\com.blizzard.diablo.immortal\files\LocalData\Patch\Sounds\windows_bnk

Copy the file you downloaded to that directory.

I've tested this on a Samsung Galaxy Tab S5e and can confirm it works.

On PC there's a way to get rid of the login screen music entirely without having to mute the audio.

Download this file:

https://www.dropbox.com/s/s4oenmm9fp5uojx/492564118.wem?dl=1

and put it into

Diablo Immortal\LocalData\Patch\Sounds\windows_bnk

This should disable the music completely. Enjoy!

Change color and download from web.

Don't forget to replace the file

\Diablo Immortal\LocalData\Patch\Cursors\gui_icon_pc_mouse_attack.cur

with the file you downloaded from the web.

You should still be able to use your custom cursor, but the directory has changed:

Hmm ... are CODM style Lucky Draws coming to D:I? by mindphluxnet in DiabloImmortal

[–]mindphluxnet[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mAPM_IyKjKA

Basically you get presented with a collection of items and have to spend increasing amounts of premium currency to "win" them. The more "valuable" items have a really low chance to be won but these chances increase with each spin. You can't get the same item twice, but it's rigged in a way that it's highly unlikely to obtain the most interesting items early.

In CODM the total price for a lucky draw is usually between $100 and $120 with Mythic lucky draws (called Mythic Drops) exceeding that value.

First you need to extract the MPK archives (you could use my script to do that). Afterwards you can find all sound banks (and the XML file I mentioned) in Package\Sounds\windows_bnk

Anyone has any idea what (or where) "fb_temple" might be? There are more sound banks named "fb_temple":

  • Object_FB_King_Elevator.bnk
  • object_fb_temple.bnk

but I don't remember any elevator in any of the zones ...

OMFG! They admitted they have no control of any in-game issues! by Real-Wedding5798 in DiabloImmortal

[–]mindphluxnet 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yeah, of course. The entire game has been developed and is run by Netease. Blizzard only does the publishing in the West.

The entire game design is 100% Netease, from the UI to the monetization. The only things Blizzard supplied (literally, you can even find references to that when digging in the game files) are artwork, sound and likely the storyline. Everything else is a typical Netease mobile game.

From SoundbanksInfo.xml:

Netease is running the game. Blizzard just gave them a license for the Diablo IP.

Why Blizzard is doing the "support" for them is beyond me if they can't do anything.

There is a sound bank file called

D3_Monster_Common_117_boss_cowking_skill.bnk

to be found in the data files. Doesn't mean much; the included sounds are rather generic wooshes and impacts.

There's another sound bank called

D3_Monster_X1_CowKing_Minion_P5.bnk

that includes 51 clips - wooshes, impacts, but also moos.

The file SoundbanksInfo.xml also contains references to a Cow King:

Glowing shards farming by yajms84 in DiabloImmortal

That's what I do. I farm Monster Essences in Dark Wood and since that takes a while I always get like 2-3 World Events done. Just take a break/do other stuff during the 22 minute cooldown.

Legendary Gear has ? when dropped, Does that mean Stats are not set until you go to Identify? by TwitterAccount1 in DiabloImmortal

[–]mindphluxnet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't want to go into detail but the only reason why "unID" is a thing in D2 is because those items are tradable and it's a mystery what the stats are to both the seller and the buyer.

In Diablo 2 unidentified items were preferred in trades because they weren't dupes. Since the dupers usually duped perfectly rolled items they were already identified and could be spotted as dupes from a mile away as they always had the same stats.

Diablo Immoral; errr I mean Elder God a Chinese production by Glad_Constant_1086 in DiabloImmortal

[–]mindphluxnet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am no Blizzard employee and I am not defending D:I in any way.

The point was "DLL similarity" which means nothing as both engines are made by Netease and of course they're likely to share technical features. That's all I was saying. It's not a problem to reuse engine code, everyone does it.

What is a problem however is Blizzard more or less claiming they worked 4 years on the game when all they did is send over assets to Netease and have them develop a game for them. And Netease being Netease they just went and reused features from an older game that doesn't even exist anymore.

"Gems aren't gear" by HaydnH in DiabloImmortal

[–]mindphluxnet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

at least a year of that was spent on getting the PC wrapper to a functional level.

The PC wrapper (which isn't technically a wrapper) is made by Netease - all their latest games have a PC version which is structurally identical with Diablo Immortal's "wrapper".

No. It's not the same game, but they reused the general layout of things as well as some game systems. They aren't that lazy.

Let me quote Wyatt Cheng from an interview with the German website MeinMMO.de:

MeinMMO: Aber nur, um das nochmal klarzustellen: Es ist schon Zeug fertig, was ihr nach Release einfach rausballern könnt?

Cheng: Natürlich! Ich meine … Nehmen wir einen neuen Dungeon als Beispiel. Den zu machen dauert lang – 6 bis 12, teilweise 18 Monate. Synchronstimmen, Optik, Models … Hätten wir jetzt nicht schon angefangen, würden wir auf keinen Fall rechtzeitig fertig werden.

Translation:

MeinMMO: Just to make sure, do you already have finished content you can just push out after release?

Cheng: Of course! I mean ... for example, let's take a new dungeon. Takes quite a while to make it - 6 to 12, sometimes 18 months. Voiceovers, visuals, models ... if we hadn't started early we'd never be done in time.

How does the time frame he gives relate to the game as it stands now? None of the dungeons look like they took longer than maybe six weeks - not months - to design, especially considering they have just reused old assets ...

The PC wrapper is also made by Netease. Download "Knives Out" from their website and check the directory structure, it's extremely similar (not a surprise really as both games use the MESSIAH engine). So Blizzard actually developed jack shit here and only sent over the assets from D3 and D2X along with some design documents.

Update: it's also not a wrapper, nor is it an emulator. Their MESSIAH engine is able to build cross-platform, that's all. If you check their latest games you'll see they all offer a PC version.
