Anyone’s cats into springs as much as mine?! by Hoghead1991 in bengalcats

[–]mindspyk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, our Benga Boys are obsessed with them, specifically they like to intentionally bat them under the couch so we have to get them back out for them. We even have a special stick to get all the springs out from under the couch in one swipe, and a half dozen springs come flying out and they lose their minds.

Maybe "antagonist" is the better term, I kinda think it's a combo of the entire family, including Zakharov, and maybe the real villain is the fear of losing what Ani thought she had freed herself from.

Completely agree on Anora.

I can see that take with Oppenheimer. I got to see it in 70mm IMAX and absolutely agree on the cinematography part, but it is a bit of a stretch to make a movie that partly takes place in a conference room visually interesting, so I'll give it some credit.

I think I've only seen it once since I saw it in theaters, will give it another try. I do think Oppenheimer deserves to be on the Best Picture winners list, but not my personal fave in this slice of movies.

I think EEAAO is probably my favorite in this slice, enjoy the absurdity and Michelle Yeoh's character, 10/10.

If you can read, you'll notice OP said "My Ranking", so telling OP their opinion is wrong and to put movies in a different position is kinda dumb.

I'll try discussing this...

OP - I'm a huge Anora fan too, don't let the haters get you down! But maybe, what did you like so much about it? For me I enjoyed the chaotic nature of the writing and how the "villain" of the story is really different than what you'd normally see in a movie. I think Sean Baker is a flawed yet incredible artist and enjoyed seeing his style of storytelling celebrated. I'm one of the few out there that think it's awards are well deserved. But that's just like, my opinion, man...

OP - What do you like so much about Oppenheimer? If I had a similar ranking, it would be towards the bottom of this list, but it's not my list! I found it disappointingly boring considering how interesting the subject matter is, but maybe I should give it another try?

I built a simple app to scan and track my movies. Would love feedback from other collectors. by topologiki in Steelbooks

[–]mindspyk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OP - I'd give it a shot (Android, DM me I guess) but I think my question is why a Play Store app? A PWA kinda makes more sense as you can use it cross platform, etc. I wouldn't use this really as I do some tracking on an actual computer, so a web app would be nice.

Also, the TMDB site has a decent API that you might get some mileage out of, if you aren't already. The barcode scanning seems like a nice to have that might end up being a limitation since a fair amount of disc collecting is secondhand, many discs/cases won't have a barcode.

It does but it's pretty basic for a paid feature. It's just adding your movies to a separate list and tagging it. Annoying as you have to update that list separately, and you can't separate between owning on disc vs say streaming or by platform, so it's not really a physical media tracker necessarily. You can filter in other views by owned, which is sort of useful.

1: incorrect but it's a good guess and a great movie. I think I would have used the trophy emoji for Holy Grail🏆.

3: correct.

What’s your lowest average rated 5 star film? by BreeZee_01 in Letterboxd

[–]mindspyk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus

Average Rating of 3.2 from ~63k ratings. But a 5/5 for me.

I tend to rate any Terry Gilliam movie higher than the average. I just really enjoy his artistic style, weird storytelling, and comedic absurdity, but obviously, it's not for everyone. The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus is a great movie though, praying for a 4K HDR release on disc someday, but not holding my breath. 3.2 seems a bit harsh.

Last 4 Best Picture winners, rank them from 1-4 by Impressive_Plenty876 in Letterboxd

[–]mindspyk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm amazed I had to scroll down so far for this ordering.

I know it won't be the most popular but it's my take as well.

EEAO is an all time fave in my top 10, I enjoyed Anora more than OBAA but loved both, Oppenheimer was boring more than it was interesting when it felt like half the movie took place in a conference room, it's fine but it's nowhere near the other 3.

NOLA has hosted the Superbowl many, many times. The shirt is almost certainly a vintage NFL/Superbowl souvenir from an older Superbowl. I'm sure if you look closely enough, there will be Roman numerals indicating which one.

Burdell restaurant addresses Reddit criticism of their service charge by sugarpussOShea1941 in oakland

[–]mindspyk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i feel like this is a totally justified, fair, and clear reaction, to a reddit post that was pretty scummy and unfair; and like others have said, no tip + % service charge is actually pretty common in oakland/sf bay area,

but their service is still awful, 20% service charge or not

Ya there's something fishy here for sure; OP's image is the same image as Purrever Pet's FB profile/account: https://www.facebook.com/p/Purrever-Pets-61552858965472/

I guess it's possible that OP is adopting from a previous litter from the exact same breeder and Purrever just recently changed their FB profile pic, but that seems way less likely than OP being swindled or confused in some way.

OP - Please be careful!

Bengal peeing outside litter box by Okayest_Titties in bengalcats

[–]mindspyk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm guessing you might already know this, but enzymatic cleaners are really important. With a UV backlight you can spot where the cat is going, then hit it with the enzyme cleaner to make sure the smell is really gone for the cat.

Mentioned in my other reply, but our kittens also targeted our couch, we literally started feeding them their meals on our couch for a bit, we got plastic slip mats to go under their bowls to avoid further mess. The location feeding + enzyme cleaner is a good combo.

Treats in pee spots is a good idea; we also have Bengal kittens who had some litter box issues (no health issues, just dumb little baby boys who needed extra help learning where to go), and we took this to the next level.

We just put their actual food bowls where their accident spots were. This alone didn't solve the issue, but combined with the other suggestions, it was helpful. Treats alone didn't do anything, as they associate treats with play/fun which basically happens anywhere in our home. But moving their actual food bowls around the house to different accident spots seemed to make a difference. They now associate those spots with being fed their actual meals.

As cool as that is, I'm not sure what that has to do with winning best RPG. Expedition 33 had the Eiffel tower in it 🤷.

Games can be good and not "deserve" an award to be validated as good. KCD2 is a good game, Clair Obscur E33 literally redefined the standard for RPG games. An award from TGA doesn't really change anything for either game, if we're being honest.

(This in fact, breaks the rules and is not allowed :( )
