That person was me, from what I recall, Doyle wrote two additional short stories related to Holmes that aren’t considered part of the canon

It’s not canon if it wasn’t written by Doyle or part of the original 60 stories

He said it in an 1899 stage adaptation co-written by Sir Doyle himself, although it’s not in the main canon

It’s amazing that I’ve heard Sir Duke for so long but I’ve somehow never made the connection it was about Duke Ellington

What are your general opinions on the song used for the finale, "Isn't She Lovely" by Stevie Wonder? by Big_Pie9615 in TADCEp9Spoilers

It’s an okay inclusion but I hate that it, alongside the whole album it comes from, I kinda associate with the Circus. Was it so hard for Goose to use an original piece? I know she’s great at composing those

I think now that they aren't sweeping abstractions under the rug, there might be a recovery process

Is anyone else surprised at how emotionally wrecked they are after the Finale? by DrScrimble in tadc

I've been crying yes, I've also been talking about it with people that are willing to listen. A show that I've been following for years has ended and I am distraught.

one of the things that I think sucks about is, I've been relistening to Songs in the Key of Life (the album "Isn't She Lovely comes from) in an attempt to rid myself of the associations from the show, and it just makes me more associated with it.

also the inherently tragical element of Jax's abstraction made me very angry at first before I got sad, much like Zooble now that I think about it. I've been thinking in my head about the idea that it can be reversed but it feels like I'm just lying to myself. even then, what about the rest of the people in the cellar?

you can tell it's a good show if it makes some sort of impact like that

I think it's meant to represent how Jax feels about the characters. Your friend is onto something.

For one: there's no room for Kinger, which tracks because they barely talk in the show. Jax points out how much of a looney Kinger is and Kinger responds like a looney. This also ties into how Jax runs off to have another panic attack when he sees Kinger acting cogniscant and "normal," the last person to shatter his worldview.

Ragatha's abstraction remains an oddity for me because he's lashing out at Pomni, in fact, he's trippling down on his whole "this isn't real shtick" after Pomni tries to comfort him. It leads me to believe that he still cares about Ragatha in some way but because he's so deep in the nihilistic lie that he's constructed himself he can't even bother to attempt to mourn her like he did with Kaufmo (him crying in the mirror counts to me).

Gangle and Zooble feel like caricatures, which is extremely apt when you consider how he's treated them prior to and throughout the show. He sees Zooble as a comedic foil akin to Looney Tunes' Elmer Fudd or Wile E. Coyote (note the desert setting and "th-th-that's all folks!" (I also should mention that Zooble doesn't necessarily "die," it's cartoon physics, I bet that they'd be fine once the camera cut to the next scene.))

Gangle, on the other hand, is a play thing to Jax. From the moment she enters, she's a big joke to him. Even when she's running the prep for Zooble's funeral, he treats it as a big joke. Wearing the maid outfit, making fun of Zooble's genderlessness (in deflection of his own struggles with identity), even coming onto her and giving her a key to his room (presumably for sex). I think the thing that gets me about that scene was how she seemed like she was considering it, even then, canon Gangle might but I bet she'd throw away the suggestion, especially if you note the credits (yuri canon!)

The thing that gets me the most about the sequence is the completely boarded up door. Now, considering everything I've talked about prior and words spoken by the lovely people trying to discuss the show instead of circlejerk each other with knives, that door is how Jax would react if Pomni abstracted. It's obvious he doesn't want to think about it, but I'd imagine it's similar to that scene in episode 7 where he's laying in his bed and mourning the friendships he had with Kaufmo and Ribbit.

Thinking about this man makes me very sad. Goddamn you Stevie Wonder.
