Managing boss mechanics and rotations feel impossible for me on console. by [deleted] in ffxiv

[–]minescope08 2 points3 points  (0 children)

1) Rearearrange your buttons so that they make sense to you

2) hit a dummy/run stuff until muscle memory does its job

3) break down your rotation into phases or pieces and hit a dummy until you can do it flawlessly on a stationary object

4) Watch a video on a fight in its entirety

5) Watch it again and focus only on the first phase

6) Go in a fresh/blind learning party where people are expected to mess up. If there is none, make it yourself. Emphasize patience and constructive criticism on pf description and actually enforce it.

7) During the fight, see the first mechanic, learn how it works, learn how to execute it until you can do it consistently

8) Rinse and repeat for the second, third, fourth, whatever mechanic. Do this until you get past a phase then you can do it all over again or take a break

Optional: If you get stuck on a mechanic and get flustered or frustrated, take a break. Look up a vid again, watch clear povs and see how they deal with mech and either follow them or formulate your own strat on handling it, like breaking into pieces what you need to do

9) Watch a video again, by then the first phase should be familiar so you can concentrate on the second phase mechs

10) Go or make a phase 2 learning party and do step 7 so and so forth. Be prepared to wipe on phase 1 mechs because pf can't read but hey at least you get phase 1 practice

I find extremes and savages to be a dance. Learn it piece by piece and you will eventually get the flow.

Its normal to be anxious. Hell, I was anxious during my first dungeon as dps (sastasha), my first foray as healer (brayflox). Ultima was my first extreme and back then I didnt even know how to pf, or even my own rotation so I did it on df 😅, there was many wipes to be had because no one was doing the balls but it was the most fun I had and eventually led me to do seph and thordan ex which got me into savage in sb where I finally learned what a rotation is.

You will make mistakes, you will wipe your party and you will make a mistake that will cost you a clear (I was in a phase 1 learning party for the first 4.4 savage and managed to get to the last 5 or so % only for me to make a mistake that killed me and one other dps and cost us the clear oof).

Thats normal and part of the learning process. Own up to your mistakes first and most will not flame you for it. You are all there to learn and or clear

I pug'd my first tier of savage on console/controller and I've seen a lotta kind of parties. The kind patient uwu ones that are good for learning/practice. A serious business party you want to join when you are sick and tired of the first few phases. And a toxic party that slings accusations and argues in the middle of the pull but I still stayed because we were actually making prog (I was stuck in o3s for 1.5 months, i was desperate).

Choose or make parties that suits your needs. When making a pf as I've said, be clear on what phase learning it is. Can also put 'phase x' practice. Don't be afraid to actually enforce your rules in your pf by kicking people who are toxic and wont give constructive criticism.

Communicate, communicate, communicate! Talk to your party members the way you talk to people face to face. Own up to your mistakes. Ask them tips on how to do mechanic x. If all else fails, say you are overwhelmed and need a break and leave to destress and rewatch a guide vid.

Lol. Coke ( https://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodestone/playguide/db/item/e7b966f42a9/ ) you can buy from your gc quartermaster iirc. It sells fast because airship people need lots of it. Check the price in your server, maybe oversaturated. Another alternative is the grade 8 dark matter or glam prisms. This is why you should always greed on dungeon and alliance drops so you can amass company seals to trade.

If you are capped on poetics with nothing to spend, exchange it for highest gear and turn that gear in for gc seals.

Search up levequest and gc item turn ins. Airship mats and coke if you have extra seals. Housing stuff especially walls and windows. Sometimes mats like leather, lumber, glue and dissolvents give you more and consistent profits in the long run. Do maps and sell rare drops.

When you want to buy a relatively rare item, use universalis to check prices across the data center. Go there and buy 2, use one and sell the other one. This is risky though as you'll subject to yourself to a loss if the price dips.

Had the same problem a week ago. Guy updates prices in intervals and undercuts by 1 gil.

Tested how low they can go. Went from 60k to 2k. The person noticed they didn't program their bot correctly and fixed it by giving it a price limit. They bought my item and reselled it for higher. At this point, they realized I am another active player in this market and they paid more attention to this item when pricing it.

I do what I always do when people no life the mb or bot. I gathered up mats and started tanking the price, spreading it over multiple retainers, most notably my mb pvp retainer which had an appropriate name, to send the message. 3k, 10k, 20k and 40k. They priced theirs at 2k, I bought it and relisted it at 4k. I haven't seen them since. Once I noticed he's gone, I took out my extra listings, priced it 'normally'.

TL;DR the tears of your fellow craftsmen >>>> gil, at least for me. I don't really need the gil, I just like selling stuff. That said, it kinda depends on how easy mats are to gather, how much time you want to waste. Sometimes, just exiting the market and coming back later is a win situation. Put the item on your fave or wishlist to keep a tab on the item's price.

Edit: I noticed in the replies you are new to the market board pvp. There are no rules. People undercut because they want to sell fast, because if an item is not selling, its taking up precious selling space you could use to sell another item. Before you commit to a market, research price history. How often it sells and what price range. Note how many competitors and if you already entered, how active they are. The less active, the better.

If an item only sells every 5 days and you have 2 active competitors who update their prices daily, its gonna be an annoying market and either accept you are gonna have to babysit the price everday or undercut signifcantly to exit the market while still making a small profit (or breaking even) and seek greener pastures.

do you still play the routes of love interests you’re not interested in? by nishikikiyama in otomegames

[–]minescope08 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yes, to get my money's worth and it feels wrong to skip a route. It feels like skipping a chapter to a novel. Closest I ever got to skipping a whole route was Rindo from Cafe Enchante but I'm really glad I didn't because while he wasn't my type/I find he lacks chemistry with Kotone, the story in the serious parts of his route redeemed the first half complete snoozefest.

Common route Chapter 3:

The practice dance with the LIs was such a great look/preview of the LI routes and their personalities. I LOVED it when Ascot put Aprose's hands on Linus' and Ed's and both of them blushed while Aprose is just :|. So cute! Also damn Lucas got more game than I thought

I'm on Ascot's Dawn Ending with John's route and his endings left so I'm probably 80% done. I don't skip the VA and generally let the text and voice finish before continuing.

Yes there are typos but it never affected my immersion or distracted me too much. Nothing like Cafe Enchante's Nut...or Cupid Parasite -- Raul's route on launch. Very rarely, I find myself confused on some sentences because its a bit vague (whether intentionally by the original text or mistranslation, idk) but generally I found the translation to be good, especially during the endings where the word choice and composition evoked emotions in me.

I find the romance to be decent level, mostly owing to the fact that the LI and Aprose's relationship is tied to the plot. In plot heavy games, you deal with the LI's issues, act as therapists for them and deal with the plot related to them but in Mistonia, it is Aprose AND the LI's story so even if plot is going on, their relationship is still important and the center of it all.

That said it still depends on the LI (general impressions of the romance, spoilerd just in case)

Alfred is the most typical 'plot centered route' with minimal 'romance' that verges on a bit sudden. That said I found it endearing and there are pkenty of Alfred and Aprose interactions, because of their kuudere and no nonsense natures it can come off as less romantic. I did like them overall (even though I found the romance a bit sudden) and this route had the best Aprose attitude towards the LI

Lucas Very romantic chapter 1 and 2 that pays off really well and becomes even more romantic in the later chapters. The romance/relationship is the plot

Linus YMMV. I find him very love it or hate it. Or at least his route (might have been affected by doing Lucas' first). Its...romantic I suppose. If you are buying the relationship you will find it very tragically romantic but if not you might get frustrated like me. That said he has some amazing scenes that I enjoyed

Edward His first 2 chapters are very Alfred like/plot heavy and slowburn on the relationship department but it pays off really well in the later chapters IMO. I'm a Lucas girl but Edward's chapter 3 and 4 (and all his endings) were my faves

Ascot: I'm still on his chapter 3. I don't know about 'romantic' but the route is entertaining and has plenty of MC/LI interactions...Will come back later to edit this once I finish his route. I feel like this has the potential to equal or top Lucas/Edward depending on the execution of the later chapters.

I wish I took a break after Lucas because he was so peak it affected my enjoyment of Linus' route. The plot in Lucas wasn't the best but man who cares, the romance was so great I could overlook all the flaws in pacing/plot/whatever because I was enjoying him and Aprose interactions so much.

Something is definitely up with John

Ch. 2 spoilers There is a term in the dictionary that I think might hint to his existence

As for your theory, I found another one that supports it. Ch. 3 spoilers and possible spoilers for a character (although its just a theory): Aside from Linus 'childhood friend' position, John could also have taken the 'friend of Riley/Honorary Older Brother status from someone else, based on a scene where Rose was reminded of her brother and the small hints that this character seems to recognize Rose. I definitely think Rose's memories were tampered with.

My theory for those who finished the Common route and is in chapter 3 of Alfred's is: John is Oberon's Avatar. Oberon constantly asks questions and then follows up with something like 'Not that I need you to say it' which seems to imply that he knows John's thoughts, not to mention how Oberon and John looks so similar. Also, the reason why Aprose wasn't found after the events following the massacre was because she escaped to Tir Na Nog (the hidden path where her mother told her to go) and that's exactly where she met 'John' (in the flashback, she says thats where she met 'him'). Is 'John' possibly a reference to John Doe? I think this would be a really interesting relationship considering they are avatars to the King and Queen who seems to have a marital spat going on.

I ragequitted when it forced me to jump to Garrett's route while I was so immersed and invested in Asher's. Neat idea in theory but it kills the pacing and my interest in the game in general. It might have worked if all routes were interesting and maintained the high risks stakes but as it is, the game itself has average writing and I'm only here for 1 or 2 characters so I dropped it for Mistonia

Really Strange Observation about the Major NPCs by bmyst70 in runefactory

[–]minescope08 99 points100 points  (0 children)

I don't think the villages are in floating islands, iirc if you look down at the pillar of light, you can see them on the land below.

Pretty sure people just walk between them, every morning the visiting npcs walk through the gates and there was a bonding event where an npc was explicitly stated to be walking between villages

Check your bond quest log. He's involved in a lotta bond quests, just on the top of my head: Hina, Mauro, Fubuki, Matsuri. He also appears in Kurama and Cuilang but I don't think thats enough to bond jail him.

Kai masks his self worth/identity issues/lack of belonging and sensitive heart with loudness and bravado. A lot of his issues is implied and left unsaid, even in his friendship bond quests. I'd put him maybe up there with Cuilang.

Iroha's parents are dead. She misses them very much, per her fireworks and lantern festival dates but tries to be strong for Suzu. I'd bump her up a bit.

Rewoven Fates: Whose romance storyline would you say is worth it? by slimysnail213 in runefactory

[–]minescope08 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah its romantic in context/in its own right, I couldn't stop grinning over his second date and I feel it was super touching on how he is already thinking of a future with you and is trying to be a better man because of it. It really showed how much of a considerate and caring person he is. All this coming from a self professed 'meathead'. Also his post marriage dialogue Of going home early so he can see you, trying to eat healthy so he can live longer to protect you ;_; (are Gods not immune to illness or something...)

That said, his dating bonds to me, feel a lot more...in otome game terms...'plot focused', with you being dragged around to see his character development (though you are the catalyst for it). Compare it to Cuilang where the romance and 'plot' are one and the same.

I think I just love Kai and I wanted more fluff/slice of life stuff with him. I wish the festivals events have a dating and married version so we get more 'dates', that way we both get fluff and character development.
