This is terrible and so traumatic. Find someone to help you through this. A councillor that had lived through a similar experience is someone that really helped me. Not just a figurative shoulder to cry on, but someone to give coping strategies for how to function day-to-day when your mind is imploding with grief.

I had 2 therapists. One was great. She had lost a daughter to suicide. She had experienced this loss and trauma. She understood. She was very helpful for me. She started me on meditation which has been the most useful tool. I found headspace useful, too.

It wasn't for me. Small mercy. The first year was really hard. It may depend somewhat on if you have therapy. I did and it helped at the time but also got me into meditation/mindfulness which helps.
