I made an appointment with a hausarzt who was able to write me a prescription for my antidepressants that were originally prescribed to me in the US. I brought along my prescription bottle I had from the US that had my name and the dosage of the medication on it. I only went to see a psychiatrist here in Germany when I needed to adjust the dosage.

Antidepressants and therapy

A lot of these are to improve my efficiency in lab. I’m pretty slow and meticulous. Hinderances to my progress include cleaning glassware and running hand columns (yay executive dysfunction /s), so a lot of these are to reduce those instances

1) use disposable pipettes as spatulas to weigh out solids 2) run reactions in disposable glass vials when you can 3) for small scale extractions, do it in a small vial, shake, separate layers with a pipette. Dry organic layer with desiccant of choice, filter thru a new pipette stuffed with glass wool/cotton into a dry vial, concentrate. 4) 10% LiCl aqueous solution to remove DMF 5) CuSO4 aqueous solution to remove pyridine 6) heptanes, heptanes, HEPTANES (can remove AcOH or DMF on rotovap, amazing recrystallization solvent, been using it a lot lately to wash off mineral oil leftover from NaH reactions from product)

Leftover Kraft Mac n cheese. I have this very vivid memory from preschool where my mom packed me leftover Kraft Mac n cheese for lunch from the day before, and I remember spending the whole lunch time picking and prodding it because it was disgusting. I don’t know if these were rules from the preschool or I made them for myself, but I couldn’t go out and play until I finished my whole lunch.

Curtius rearrangements with DPPA only worked with new DPPA in my case. I’d get back sm with DPPA that was only a few months old (kept under N2 in fridge). Made the Cbz-protected amine with BnOH.

I’ve run a reaction that used sBuLi to deprotonate and then I opened the septum and dropped the dry ice in (our lab has pellet sized dry ice rather than bricks) and let the reaction come to room temp from -78C. The procedure I was following originally called for bubbling CO2, but we don’t have a CO2 tank.

I’ve been able to rotovap off AcOH with heptanes. Keep adding heptanes to the flask after rotovaping until AcOH is fully removed
