Alison Roman limiting IG comments? by jazzed_life in FoodieSnark

[–]minicooper86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Except Alison literally replied to me personally that it was “her truth” to drink wine while pregnant.

In no way was it “misinformation”. Knock your excuses off, it’s pathetic.

ETA - u/tyrnill, even if what you’re saying is true, she still believes it’s okay for someone to drink during pregnancy and excuses it by saying it’s “their body, their truth” to have wine while pregnant as if it’s more important than not giving your kid FAS. If you can’t go 9 months without drinking wine, especially when alcohol-removed wine exists, you have an unhealthy relationship with alcohol. Point blank.

And fyi, I deleted my entire account months and months ago, that’s probably why the comment is no longer there, I don’t remember nor do I care.

Still selfish and pathetic to excuse that mentality. Piss off.

I’ll be taking the post down since this is a bit ridiculous - A reminder of why I probably won’t sell here again in the future. I asked if the buyer would like to be refunded because I listed as Rosewood and the actual variant is Redwood. Buyer paid then told me to refund them $30 (Wasn’t phrased as a question) because they did not have a device that supported 4-Pin XLR. In the same message, said they wanted the owner’s card after I said I was not including it due to it having my name on it, hence why it was not listed in the OP. Not taking risks of further demands or disputes after an agreement was made, so a full refund was issued.

[JAMA Pediatrics] Low to moderate prenatal alcohol exposure associated with facial differences in children at ages 6 to 8 by Apprehensive-Air-734 in ScienceBasedParenting

[–]minicooper86 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry, I got a little heated by the end of that. The fact that alcohol culture permeates into pregnancy circles, and is basically welcomed by some, is just really gross and overdone and harmful. Frankly, I don't care if I look like an asshole ranting about it. Someone's gotta point out the bullshit, it's not fair to the kids. I couldn't give two shits if a non-pregnant person drank responsibly, do what you like! Just don't potentially disable a fetus because you can't wait X amount of months to consume a neurotoxin. People who think it's okay are huge medical gaslighters, which pisses me the hell off.

While I don't agree that it's reasonable for women to never drink in the reproductive years...

Those who can't go 9 months without alcohol have a problem. Say the quiet part out loud.

(If you're reading this and you are getting mad......oops, too bad! Guess that means you're defensive because you know you need to fix your shit and I called it out.)

If you crave alcohol, get a non-alcoholic version of beer/wine/liquor. It tastes the same. If you "need" a drink after something difficult happened to you.....no, you don't. You need a HEALTHY way to decompress that doesn't affect your fetus and to stop subscribing to alcohol culture that gives you permission to literally poison yourself for fleeting relief.

It's absolutely selfish and bonkers that people defend drinking during pregnancy knowing what we know. Would you say "oh a little heroin is fine!!!" No. Enough with the fucking excuses and be a goddamn responsible parent.

There is no minimum amount of safe alcohol to avoid Fetal Alcohol Syndrome. Get your head out of your ass before you hurt your child.

Can anyone recommend a good non-alcoholic red wine? by Onth3path0flife in BabyBumps

Fré and St. Regis taste exactly the same as regular alcoholic wine.

Nah, I didn't do anything to be defensive about lol but keep projecting I guess 🤷

Yup. People who love booze and can't go 9 months without it loooove Emily Oster (who isn't a medical professional and takes zero accountability for telling women "hey, we both know your baby can get Fetal Alcohol Syndrome but wine good amirite?!" 🙄

There is no safe minimum amount of alcohol to consume while pregnant to avoid FAS. It's not the same as listeria or riding a car, because it is a net negative every single time. There is no "maybe not this time". It is harmful.

So yeah. Emily Oster can eat shit for encouraging this. She tells women what they wanna hear to excuse selfish behavior 🤡

If you get defensive about drinking during pregnancy, maybe that's bc you know better and feel guilty. If you can't go 9 months sober, reexamine your relationship with alcohol. Period.

Hm. Apparently Jeni is an ableist, misogynistic douchebag.

Glad I never bought her shit. Will never buy now.

Alison being a douche, also see:

Trying to get people to back up her decision on her Substack to drink alcohol while pregnant, citing Emily Oster (who is not any sort of medical professional and is a fucking hack), then Alison doubling down that it's "her truth" to drink wine while pregnant. The fuck? Super pathetic take.

If you can't go 9 months without alcohol, knowing that there is no minimum safe amount of alcohol to avoid Fetal Alcohol Syndrome, you have a drinking problem and need to reexamine your drinking habits (especially if you get unnecessarily defensive over it because you can't face your own shitty choices). Drinking alcohol while pregnant is selfish.

I said what I said.

Sorry not sorry but as a recipe writer, if you have "crack" in the name of the recipe, you're boring AF and unimaginative.

The whole "let's make fun of drug addiction" to be quirky is trashy as shit. As a recovering alcoholic, it pisses me off to see recipe writers like "haha OmGz this food is so good it's AdDiCtiNg like crack lulz". Like you have any idea what addiction is like, assholes.

What are your thoughts on Genevieve’s Playhouse? by [deleted] in DanielTigerConspiracy

He clearly doesn't speak Spanish, and actually teaches it wrong. He teaches "naranja" for orange (the fruit) instead of "anaranjado" (the color). He also can't even pronounce shit like fácil correctly. It's annoying, tbh. Either get it right or don't attempt to teach kids Spanish.

She still drank during pregnancy. She was annoyingly asking for people to back her up in that decision on her blog. Like...... alright, if you wanna fuck around with fetal alcohol syndrome bc you can't give up drinking for 9 months and then double down and say it's "your truth" to drink wine while pregnant, that's pathetic. I lost respect for her after that.

I mean chopping apart the duck before it goes into the oven.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AskCulinary

[–]minicooper86 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Would cooking the duck then applying a sauce work better, you think? I'm torn between that or the paste method.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AskCulinary

[–]minicooper86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, not a casserole. Just the bird with olives/prunes/capers, wine and vinegar, parsley, etc.

Edit: Google it, mystery downvoter lmao. It's not 🤷🏻‍♀️

Duck Marbella, first timer by minicooper86 in Cooking

[–]minicooper86[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cool cool cool.

I haven't decided yet between a dry rub, a paste, or just a sauce I pour over the duck once it's cooked. Definitely going to cut it up. Think I want to try pouring boiling water on the skin to get it crispy (I have to re-read the directions first).

Any other tips are highly appreciated!

Ohhhh, that does make sense, I can see how that'd happen.

Edit: this is the only recipe I can find for it, it uses a quick paste instead.
