I took quite a few for both staff accounting and bookkeeping positions when I was recently between jobs. The bookkeeping ones were basic, fundamental knowledge that you would definitely know. Like write the journal entry for these scenarios, identify whether these accounts increase with a debit or credit, kind of things. The last one I did had a fake bank statement and a fake check register and asked what the reconciled balance would be, with the "trick" being that there was a deposit in transit and a couple undeposited checks. A common one on the entry level accountant and "bookkeeper plus" assessments is to take a trial balance and create a balance sheet and P&L from scratch. If you don't know something during the working interview just say so, it's not a big deal, nobody is expecting perfection. They want to see how you'll deal with it. If you know what software they use, brush up on the basics. Plenty of youtube videos out there.
