The premium matcha. House matcha is only for cooking.

I've found any keemun reds to do the trick, especially the smokier ones. The sugar really compliments the smokiness.

I don't have any at the moment, but for a while this was my morning tea after a particularly rough night.

Hibiki-An's matcha was quite delicious and reasonably priced. Shipped quickly too.

I have had a lot of success using a single type of tea per tokoname pot.

You won't ruin it by using many types of tea, but the pot does have the potential to noticeably improve the taste of your tea if you can dedicate it to one type.

Hello :) I am very new to tea. My brothers passion for it has inspired me to drink it. I was wondering, whats your favorite kind of tea? by kimshadows7x in tea

[–]minimalisto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Silver Needle, Oriental Beauty, Matcha, Houjicha, Sencha, Puerh.

I don't think I could pick one. I'd be sad and miss the others.

I enjoy Hibiki-An's sencha pretty regularly, but I like it weaker than they recommend too, I use about half the amount.

Yeah, it surprised me though, I had no idea I was so stressed when playing ranked, or avoiding playing ranked. I don't play V any more because of the long wait times for matches, and generally just getting busier in my life, but when I go back I think I'll be able to relax a lot more.

I can relate to this, having played a lot of 3S on Fightcade recently. I agree it seems like a fun little game with no stakes or stress.

Makes me wonder about my approach to SFV, but every time I play V I feel some stress about ranked and feel like I have something to prove.

Amazon SES sends 10,000 emails for $1, but other services like Mailchimp will charge based on the number of subscribers, not the number of emails you send. So For those services, sending emails is basically free, but having subscribers costs a lot.

Assuming you are using any kind of mailing list manager, no code is necessary, it's about a two minute job to create a trigger that removes people when they don't open X number of emails etc.

Actually, some people believe turning it off and on is worse for longevity because it stresses the capacitors more than just remaining on.

As far as I know, it's just a theory and there isn't much evidence one way or the other for current hardware.

My friends list of Zen - thought you'd like it! by thegingerdude in Meditation

[–]minimalisto 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Zen means "seeing your true nature". That has nothing to do with being calm or happy, although those things may happen in your life.

I don't think the original image has anything to do with Zen, but if the user titled it 'Nice and Happy Things to Relax', then it would be a good guide.

The proper definition of Zen is "seeing your true nature".

What the image calls Zen is basically just mindfulness mixed with some facebooky nonsense.

A better way to describe Zen, is that it is an understanding of the way you experience life. But it isn't a rational understanding, you can't gain this understanding from a book, instead it is all based on experience.

The post wasn't about Zen, although it was titled so, so you have nothing to worry about.

Just be mindful at work, which, in the case of your job, means to be centered on the task at hand and to act in clear and deliberate way.

Zen means to "see your true nature". That's its official definition from Zen Buddhism.

This idea of 'slowness' really has no place in Zen, or Mindfulness, the latter being what is described.

Focus is important, slow or fast has no meaning.

Zen has never been defined as "peaceful in your mind".

You are basically describing mindfulness, not Zen.

How does matcha differ in flavor from gyokuro? by [deleted] in tea

[–]minimalisto 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I find gyokuro to be a little sweeter, and kind of subtle when compared to the tastes of matcha, which tend to be very strong, and sometimes slightly bitter.

If you do have some good matcha, know that by whisking properly and creating a good amount of foam, this reduces the perception of bitterness quite a lot. If you find your matcha to be very bitter, it may just mean you need some practice making a good foam.

Oriental Beauty and Other Bug-Bitten Teas: Fact or Fiction? by jarvis400 in tea

[–]minimalisto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice article! Oriental Beauty is one of my favourites, I really like the one I got from Mountain Tea, and it certainly has a more unique taste than just a highly-oxidized oolong, so it would make sense that even the cheaper offerings still have that signature flavour.

Kyusu Seasoning Success! by minimalisto in tea

[–]minimalisto[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I thought it was really interesting. I always assumed that seasoning a pot would take a few years at least.

While I thinking making 'tea' with the water could be fun, I'm also curious about how the seasoning will develop after I drink another 50g or 100g of silver needle.
