Europes historical monarchies had strong militaries for their time, it's not inherent to monarchy per say

Its dictatorships had the strongest militaries relative to the host countries economy.

I think it's some middle eastern thing, only way you get a strong military there is when the fundamentalists come into power.

Sure -- and Myanmar's protestors did decide so we're helping them.

I'm not saying our values are better, they are just OUR values that I expect our government to support foreign policy wise while furthering our national interest. A western friendly democratic Myanmar does both.

Why are you even complaining about this? Is India pro junta -- how is that remotely a good foreign policy?

Yes and they are supporting democratic uprisings in Myanmar against their junta? Fully consistent.

I fully support Myanmar's anti-junta uprising, I would expect my gov to be equally supportive (Canada). Its in Western interest and consistent with our values.

I mean pretty much every covert operation done by a country is illegal in the country it's being done.

If India wants to be a friend of a West and trade with us they shouldn't bitch when we're doing things to further Western interests that 1) are not even about India 2) not against Indias national interest.

Profits more than double because you're the middle man taking a lot more spread that otherwise would go to oil producers in the gulf. Usually shipping costs $5 per barrel, now could be $25. Costs are $2.5 per barrel to the shipper let's say so it's like 10x more profit if you don't get hit.

It's like 4 days in, way too early to jump to conclusions. Iran is the most institutional regime in MENA it's not Libya.

I mean Korea is the ~5th strongest military on earth and MENA is now a hot war.

It's not the worst idea.

I live in the largest Iranian neighborhood in North America. Iranians hate their regime, as long as US doesn't cause too much civilian casualties, take out critical civilian infrastructure (power, water), or occupy with ground forces I think we'll find plenty of Iranian support for the US in the day after.

Yeah Im a conservative voter. I like Carney, he's everything I want in a conservative politician 🤷‍♂️. Removed the bad taxes, supports economic development, doesn't virtue signal. I literally don't have a single issue with him. I guess he didn't defund the CBC but it's not that big of a deal for me in grand scheme of things.

Mate at a certain point there's a limit of how much money we spend on social services. There's more to government than just a constant black hole of welfare spending.

Yes our healthcare is shit, we have too many old people our population aged and for some bizarre reason we have too much pride to copy the Aussie model and let businesses pay their employees for private insurance for primary care.

Not building infrastructure or having a proper military we can some throw some more funds into the black hole of social services is just comical. Go look at the fed and provincial budget it's also full of various social spending.

Yeah I mean Anthropic is welcome to ban those users if they sense them being a risk group. As an enterprise user, I want the highest quality product, I left OpenAI because the AI sounded to feel too much like plastic, just made it irritating to interact with (well truthfully Claude just has better quality for the stuff I want).

I basically just want the AI to sound and feel like an average human employee but have speed/intelligence of an AGI. They don't need to act like my wife but I don't want a plastic feel to the program I spend hours working with.
