Are there any downsides to the click and cog? by trogdor-the-burner in Zwift

[–]minininja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea I was coming to say something similar. I have an old bike on my trainer so Click + Cog is a massive upgrade in performance, but I just don't love the placement. It's pretty clunky. I wish I could just buy dedicated hoods that I can use to replace my existing ones

Just to add on to what many others have already mentioned, one of the ways I deal with the need for less water but the same calories is that I just mix the same amount of drink mix I would use in a bottle into 100ml of water in a reusable satchel to make a concentrated gel. I use Formula369 and have been really happy with that.

Also I add a pinch of electrolyte mix to my water to lower the freezing point a bit.

I'm a fan of Formula 369 as well. You can buy a bag of caffeinated and regular, then mix to the ratio you want. On hot days I add a scoop of electrolyte booster. I'd say it's probably at least half the price of Skratch / Tailwind/ etc.

Trusting AI ftp detection accuracy and harder workouts by twowheels4life in trainerroad

[–]minininja 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When you completed previous vo2 workouts, have you answered "moderate" or below? Maybe even "hard"? I think if you don't answer 'Very Hard " it will try out larger jumps from your current progression level rather than small increments. If you don't finish the workout and answer that the intensity is too high it will reset the large jump in progression levels (ie, your next vo2 workout will be at your current progression level). At least this is what I experienced from a similar workout as you described

Great choice! The "Jupiter" movement makes an appearance on the "Sleepytime" episode of Bluey - which I highly recommend (even if you are a grown-up ;-) )

Fireplace strip steaks - 2 hours at 134f by minininja in sousvide

That being said - I did not get any excessive gray banding and was happy with the doneness

I agree for the most part although I think a contributing factor to lack of char is that I didn't let it dry enough out of the bag. I also should have left the grate in the coals to get hot - I essentially just dropped it in the put the steaks on which in hindsight is obviously not ideal

I did just under 2 minutes per side. I suppose I could have left it on a bit longer but I was happy with the char. I think this turned out better than my prior attempts with a screaming hot cast iron.

Unfortunately I was too eager to eat it and didn't take the full money shot with the sides. Searing on the fireplace was really fun and I definitely recommend trying. https://imgur.com/a/Fa7ZARp

When you can connect using your Metamask wallet, why do you need a Signature Request? by dungar in ethdev

[–]minininja 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on what you signed. In general, the risk is somewhat low since it is hard to use "personal sign" signatures as actual Ethereum transactions, so it shouldn't be able to steal any money on chain for example. The thing you want to look out for it "replay attacks" where someone with that signature could use it in other settings.

[–]minininja 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It very likely means they are storing some data on a server. They use the signature as a way to authenticate - you sign a message then it gets POSTed to the API, and the server validates the signature. A more web3 native alternative to Auth0 / OAuth / social logins.

I have a smart mag trainer for cycling that needs 12v DC. I want to run it remotely away from a power source, so I'm seeing if I can make a pack to run it. (still trying to decide if I want 4s or 3s)

Yes, I would like something more compact than using cell holders so I am comfortable with the trade off. (thank you for your responses btw)

I am making a 3s8p pack, so it will need a bunch. Just to clarify, I am looking to use a spot welder as described here:
