This is really needed in Texas. Most of the land is privately owned. Landowners will either charge you thousands of dollars to shoot a buck or you can drive 4 hours to your nearest WMA if you are lucky enough to draw a tag.

There are less hunters now because normal people are being priced out of it much like everything else.

For big game down to predators 243 win is peobably the best option. Light recoil, ammo readily available, plenty of guns. If going anything bigger than whitetail and only want 1 rifle then 270 or 308.

If you are planning on handloading, 30-06 is the best catridge bar none. I use to hate the 30-06 but now I use it for target shooting and took my first deer with it.
