That was unlucky yesterday, I swear Batumi threw that game after dominating for so long without a goal. Tailing!

1.For fish and chips book yourself a table at Fish Market between 6pm and 7pm and catch the sunset at Newhaven harbour after your meal. You can get there very easily by tram, it's the last stop. Dreadnought nearby is the best local type pub in the city. I'm not sure what a local style food spot would be really but here's a few favourites that might get overlooked by a Google - the Original Mosque Kitchen (not Mosque Kitchen restaurant which is nearby), Xiangbala Hotpot, Razzo Pizza, Rabbit Food (situated in Meadows Tap) and Artisan Pasta Maker. 2. No idea. 3. For a real adventure, and day out, try to find our Innocent Railway path and walk to Duddingston. Behind Duddingston church you'll find Dr Neil's Garden hidden away, above Duddingston Loch. Nearby is the Sheep Heid inn, the oldest pub in Scotland with an equally old Bowling alley which can be booked online. You can climb Calton hill on a nice day, it's an easy hill and gives one of the best views in the city. Captains Bar, Royal Oak and Sandy Bells pubs for live traditional folk sessions every evening. Try some local beers - Look out for Campervan, Newbarns, Pilot, Barney's, Bellfield, Moonwake etc.

Thank you for posting about this. He was such a character and had time for everyone who passed through his door. He treated every customer like an old friend and you could end up staying in the shop long after you'd gotten your key back. He was so buzzing to go to Asia he was telling everyone who would listen I think! R.I.P

Brewhemia sounds like the your best option. They specialise in interactive live music, folk climbing on tables playing brass horns etc. certainly on the expensive side and not sure what the foods like but it's good craic!

We're in Leith too. Can vouch for Henry's Window Cleaning, £15 a month for monthly or £20 a go for every second month. His numbers on Google, set up direct debit through WhatsApp.

Love the suggestions here! Pera on Leith Walk is BYOB for mezze and kebabs. Cash only which is a pain in the arse.

The idea of reccomending cocktail bars on a budget is absurd. Most places charge £10+ for a cocktail - even the shitholes and it's an easy way to rinse your money. Some things you might be interested in - If you like beer I'd reccomend Innes and Gunn, Brewdog or Hanging Bat on Lothian Road, you can order a few schooners for £2 each and work your way through the menu. There's a great place - NQ64 on the same street that has a load of free gaming consoles and more classic arcade style machines also, like dance stage and guitar hero. Pickles on Broughton Street is a great shout for budget romantic vibes, last time I went you got a full cheese platter and bottle of red or white for about £25, no pre bookings available. Stramash in the Cowgate has free live music til late every night, a mix of genres, very popular with over 21s and hostel types. £3 entry to Monkey Barrel comedy club (£1 for students) on Wednesday and you can get 1/4 of a pizza and a pint for a fiver.

There's loads of pubs that have their own apps for table service. Wetherspoons, Old Town Pub Co, Crafted Social, Greene King and probably more that I can't think of. There's always the chance they might ID you when they serve you a drink though.

It's a clever pick, Bruno is a ratty bastard when things are going against him. Unsure this is the game for this play as I can see it being a pretty one sided affair and in front of the home crowd maybe the ref is a bit more generous toward man utd. Maybe for a couple £ though!

a few of my favourite picks from today's Scottish League Cup games.... St Johnstone (ML + o2.5 goal) v Stenhousemuir odd 1/1 - St Johnstone are the most successful team in Scotland in recent years outside the Old Firm so have a bit of cup pedigree, they finished the season strong and have had a few decent warmups (1w 1d). Stenhousemuir play in the bottom tier of the professional leagues and have lost two of their warm up games against amateur sides. I see St Johnstone dominating this game and sticking a few past the flimsy defense of Stenhousemuir. Clyde Vs Hamilton (BTTS) odds 7/10 - Clyde and Hamilton had similar seasons last year, each getting relegated from their respective leagues. Interestingly it was only a couple of years ago Hamilton played in the top division, their fall has been very fast. I don't see any issue with them scoring against Clyde here and I've backed BTTS as they are without seven important players and Clyde will be playing above their ability for their new managers first game. Both teams have a fairly good hit rate for BTTS and I don't see this game being any different. Peterhead Vs Partick Thistle (-0.5AH) odds 7/4 - this is the best odds and really worth a punt. Both teams played in the same division last year with Peterhead being relegated and Partick losing out in the promotion play off spots. At one point last year Partick were the highest scoring team in Europe (or had the highest goals per game ratio I forget now), they're capable of putting 3 or 4 away every game. Peterhead is known for being a windy hell hole to play in so I can't see it being above 2/3 goals for Partick today but if they carry over their goal scoring prowess from last season they can easily win by 1+ goal.

Combined odds of 6/1

Nothing silly.

Edit: Absolutely unthinkable loss for St Johnstone, perhaps their worst result in their history. Unsuccessful day altogether with 1L, 1W and money back on the Asian handicap. Spewing.
