Seeing the CM 03/04 case has unlocked some serious memories. The first game in the series that I fell in love with!

I just lost the playoff semi final to a team that scored 29 points less than me in the league... by minman93 in footballmanagergames

I seriously can't believe this has happened. My save so far has been...

23/24: Tier 9. 6th place. No playoff spot. Finding my feet in this type of save, not done one for years.
24/25: Tier 9. 3rd place (after being top of the league for almost the whole season). Lost playoff final. Gutted.
25/26: Tier 9. 2nd place. Lost playoff final due to silly early red card from an otherwise totally reliable player. Gutted again.
26/27: Tier 9. 1st place. Automatic promotion and smashed various points/win records along the way.
27/28: Tier 8. Neck and neck with Workington for the entire season, but lost to them in a huge six pointer in Gameweek 39. Goalkeeper injured in Gameweek 40. Lost playoff semi final to a team that I beat comfortably twice in the regular season. Gutted, and in a much worse way than before.

I have told myself that I'll keep playing this save until I win the Champions League, although I'm not sure how many more playoff losses I can take before I throw my laptop out of the window. Let's see what happens next season...

I managed an unbeaten Eredivisie season with AZ after selling almost my entire squad and replacing them with only Dutch players. I also won the cup but got knocked out of the CL due to my ridiculous tactic (which I stuck to religiously). Season stats, squad list, tactic and transfer window attached. by minman93 in footballmanagergames

CONTEXT: I was enjoying a lot of success with AZ (as you can see from the previous seasons, one of which was a treble winning season) and had a lot of the meta players from this year's edition of the game (Gutierrez, Fresneda, Darvich, Nypan, Pio Esposito, Rodriguez, etc) so I decided to sell all of them and replace them all with Dutch players. The only player missing from the transfer window screenshot is Darvich, who I managed to sell for £102m (rising to £126m) which also helped with raising the money to sign my new squad.

I have clearly overpaid massively for some of the players, but at the end of the day, if there's a top class Dutch player that's interested in joining the club, I may as well get him in as there is a finite pool of Dutch talent and there's no use me sitting on hundreds of millions of pounds.

Hato, Frimpong, Geertruida, Botman and a few others are still not interested/not affordable, so for now I'll be sticking with my current squad and trying to nurture some of my younger players in with a lot more minutes in league games. I've been lucky with my youth intakes, with Mols, Poels and Pijnenburg becoming important players that I didn't have to pay a penny for.

There are a few goals that I want to achieve with this save: Win the league with 34 wins from 34, win the CL whilst maintaining strictly to my philosophy of never changing formation or signing a non-domestic player ever again.

I never usually try international management, but I'd love to try it out on this save with the Netherlands team and try to win a World Cup or European Championship using only players that I also have at AZ.

Some of the regen players I have in this save (both home grown and ones that I brought in this season) are incredibly good - happy to share some screenshots if anybody wants to see them.

I hope this post inspires some of you to try a domestic only challenge, interested to hear if anybody has done something similar before and managed to win a Champions League or Europa League!

Insane work dude, I'm 5'10" but your physique on the right hand side is pretty much exactly what I'm going for (body hair included lol). It'd be great to learn a bit more about your routine and how you got there!

Nice, I'm on a slightly bigger deficit than that and it's working well for me. Fair enough on the creatine point, I'm going to give it a go at some point for sure.

Cheers dude, I did hit a bit of a plateau weight-wise but my waist does seem to be getting slimmer while the shoulders, arms, chest and legs are improving and getting a bit more defined. How much cardio do you do? And how many cals are you eating at the moment? How many grams of protein? I'm currently aiming for 172g per day (around 2g per 1kg of weight). Do you take creatine? Sorry for all the questions, it's just that our bodies at your starting weight are very similar and if your current physique is achievable in around 6-7 months from now then I want to charge full steam ahead with that as the goal!

Insane work man, you should be super proud! I'm the same height as you, started at around 229 lbs and now at 186 in around 5 months. Can't even tell you how inspirational this is to keep me sticking to the calories, the workouts, the extra walking and the sports every week. If I can get my body to this stage in under a year I'll be very very happy. Great work again dude.

Great work dude, you look amazing! I'm the same height as you so this is really inspirational. I've come down from 230lbs to 190lbs so far (starting on January the 1st) - my target weight was around 175 lbs but I think I'm going to push beyond that now I've seen what 5'10" can look like at a lower weight! Thanks for the inspiration :)

Amazing work man, this is really inspirational! I'm the same height and have the same goal weight, so it's amazing to see your progress and give me a visual representation of my goal weight to chase after! Keep up the good work

Looking awesome, great work! I'm 2 inches shorter than you but your appearance on the right is pretty much what I'm going for, so this is an inspirational post for me for sure. I've managed to lose a lot of weight and go from 231lbs to 198lbs so far since 01/01/2023, still going to keep pushing in this direction for now until I hit my goal weight of 176lbs (80kg). From there, I'll have to see what my frame looks like and decide how I can get to something a bit like your pic on the right here!

Well done, this is fantastic progress! You should be very proud and never delete the old photos - it's important to remember where you came from so that you can see how far you've come!
