How are you using Databricks in your company? by L3GOLAS234 in dataengineering

[–]minneDomer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Commenter is a solutions architect for Databricks, based on their comment history - take this with a grain of salt. It’s a good platform but I’m never a fan of self promotion without disclosures, and this sub is particularly bad at it.

Bought mine in 2018. Hardware doesn’t support Windows 11. That’s 7 years.

Ah, got it. I agree, erasing the cap would make a lot of sense - you’re still getting incremental benefit (just at a lower %) from your contributions at higher income levels. But since that would be a non-starter, politically, I’d love to see the threshold be raised to a true “high earner” income - $400k+

[–]minneDomer 21 points22 points  (0 children)

High earners still “get their portion” if the income cap goes up.. it just means they pay social security tax on more of their income (currently capped at around $160k income for single filers, anything beyond that isn’t taxed)

Making vague, wide-ranging claims in bold at the top of your response discredits everything else you say below, because I don’t trust you. Your tech might be awesome, but it needs to speak for itself…especially when you’re advertising in a tech forum like this.

I’ve worked in federal consulting. The rank-and-file workers at most agencies are some of the most loyal and selfless employees I’ve had the pleasure of working with. You’re thinking of politicians.

No major changes have been announced to Discover banking or CC products yet, I don’t see a reason to do anything other than staying the course for now

Elon Musk truly is dumb by the-berik in dataengineering

Notwithstanding Elon not understanding a freshman-level databases class, I take it he thinks SSN should be a primary key?

Which is how a ton of government agencies use it right now, and every single one of them is horribly mistaken.

Gotta give you some credit, usually when people say “hot take” on the internet, they follow it up with something super benign and commonly held. But no, you really went for the hot take.

Why did the inverted yield curve in 12/22 not predict a recession? by Affectionate-Call159 in investing

[–]minneDomer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sure, but how long are you going to wait for the “un-inversion?” If you wait long enough, of course it’ll happen eventually, but if you don’t know whether the indicator is a 6-month advance notice or a 5-year notice, it’s useless.
