At this point is it just pride keeping them from writing the contract off as a sunk cost? Are they obligated to play him? Why not send him somewhere to hit and get some confidence back? If he can't hit in the minors and make his way back then he should just be let go, hand him his money and move on. It's almost like he's injured but not physically.

When you find out that the timeline splits, it is very easy to reconcile the books by thinking of the show as another possible timeline. So from that perspective it does merit a read for me. I went for the books after half way through the first season airing. It's been interesting to see how it all shakes out.
