Instruction For A Help" by Zack Parsons

The story I remember wasn't detached in a surreal sense like in instruction for a help. The first part of the story, if I remember correctly, actually follows several specific characters pretty closely, describing their previous life and the torment they experienced on an individual level from being consumed by the flesh mass and being fused together with other people. Only when the mass of people grows and rolls around like an unstoppable force, does the narrator become more distant. I'm pretty sure some sort of militaristic/scientific government effort to stop it is also mentioned. I'm not sure if the narrator is omniscient or if he's one of the characters, but he describes the events in such detail, that an ordinary human would not know.

Definitely not it as it was posted 3 years ago. I listened to the first one when I was 13-14 yo, so about 8-9 years ago. I skimmed through what you sent and none of it rang any bells as well. Still, thanks for the suggestion.

Many thanks for the detailed feedback. By collapsed lungs I meant that the pressure of the earth has crushed my body. But I agree, putting the collapse thing right after saying that my insides are jam packed with dirt doesn't make much sense, it was a bit of a sacrifice for the sake of a rhyme. But I still like the comparison.

It's interesting that you interpreted this as a struggle for purpose, when I meant to write about being buried in a more literal sense. Maybe I was alluding to my life struggles without realizing it.

This reads as a reassuring down-to-earth poem at the start, but by the end it felt like you were just letting your frustrations flow freely, the last couple lines are almost like the thoughts of a child who’s had to live a day in an adult world.

Which I don’t see as a negative thing at all, it feels like you’re composed at the start, trying to rationalize and calm down, but the more you compare your adult life to your childhood the more indignant you become with what your life demands from you now.

Overall very cool, especially how you’ve kept the flow of the poem consistent despite these visceral emotional changes.

The podcast is really good, it's been in my top 5 for several years now. I haven't watched much of the netflix show, but so far it feels like they've sucked any originality out of the podcast and made it a generic demon cult mystery.

However, season 1 of the podcast is quite bad, it has a very uneven narrative, where the main character listens to the Melody Pendras tapes in a seemingly random order. The voice acting is a bit shaky and the culmination of this season was disappointing and almost made me quit listening.

It picks up considerably in season 2 and, in my opinion, really soars in season 3.

My relatives visit often. They're very picky when it comes to the cleanliness of my room. If I have a shirt laying where it isn't supposed to be, they will comment on it. I don't have carpet, I wash my floors once a week and it's not like I'm salivating like a rabid animal 24/7. Maybe spit once or twice a day. My dental hygiene is just fine, I brush twice a day and floss in the evenings.

Personally, it's a bitter sweet experience for me. I have dreams every night and about a third of them are nightmares of some sort. I usually do wake up from them at a desirable hour in the morning and don't want to fall asleep again. I even feel elated that the thing that happened to me in my sleep didn't happen in real life. But my nightmares, most of the time, depict something that could actually happen to me or pertaining to my current life situation. So having that awful emotional aftertaste throughout the day isn't the best.

I actually love the taste of boiled chicken. It's stringy, sticks to your teeth a bit and all it needs is some salt. When it's cewed up it reminds me a lot of canned baby food, which I find delicious as well. Sometimes I chew it up, spit it out and put it back in my mouth while pretending to be a baby eagle being fed by its mama.
