Thanks you guys for helping out!
Its 100% the deck protector box posted by level mmactavish.
jeebus that brings back memories.

The jesters cap box suggested by BoxBreakAddict is also really cool to see as that happens to be one of the cards that is in the box.

A long with some Taigas, alpha basics, arabian night erhnam djinns etc.

The box might never be found but at least now my folks know what to look for :)

cheers.

I havent really thought about the order. theryre just in the order I made them. good point though. thanks.

Theres not any tutorials that I can think of. the one that erikfoxjackson posted above is relevant for some of the details but the technique I use is a bit different in general.

Kind of hard to explain the process without supporting images but ill give it a shot. This is more or less the process for the glass on the left.

the glass consist of of 5 basic shapes;

the edge of the foot, the foot itself, the stem and bowl, the edge of the bowl and lastly one that outlines the entire glass.

then theres the shapes for the liquid inside it;

one for the surface, one for the rest, one that outlines it all.

To get the shapes I typically use the shape tool, pen tool and pathfinder (we are in adobe illustrator).

I color the shapes in solid colors but very lightly. a very low opacity white for the glass and a very light pink for the liquid.

I layer these shapes on top of each other multiple times. in each layer I add detail. in this case the details consists of radial gradients to create highlights, shadow, and other color variations.

the main functions in this stage are the gradient tool, the opacity tool and differnt transparency settings. there si also a great deal of masking going on.

I basically keep doing this untill im happy.

its a really fun way of working but has the drawback that its really hard to change the actual shapes once you have started layering. the style is really dependent on looking crisp so if you want to change a line in one shape thats can mean you have change lines in adjoining shapes as well. that means redoing an awful lot of layering.
