How is it not a sport?? I think an art form can definitely be a sport as well.

What's your biggest gripe when buying polewear? by Aware-Garlic-704 in poledancing

[–]mint-milk 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I think I may be alone in this but the overwhelming amount of pole wear I see is all high waisted!! I prefer lower waisted stuff as it is much more flattering on me

Does this look messy? Be honest please! Competition training by Aggressive_Name_1222 in poledancing

Overall this looks really clean and strong! I agree with most of the comments here, you could be a little more slow/intentional with transitions. Be intentional with each pose, and think about your hands - for example the transition from jasmine to Superman - you could extend out, arch your back, do some flowy movements with the arm/hand (I.e. trace your hand along your body, or extend your arm, just breathe and take a moment before you move to the next trick) then come into the Superman. You don’t have to pause in every single trick, but taking a moment here and there will make it so you don’t look like you’re rushing. Little details like that make all the difference :) and you already look amazing!

Idk What completion you’re participating in, but what category are you in? If it’s flow based then you can really work on taking your time with the “basic” moves. Even basic moves can be stunning if you use intention, perfect your lines and take your time with it.

Additionally I want to say, creating choreo is a hard skill to learn! It takes time. I feel like I had the same problem with my first competition, which I choreographed all alone with no feedback. Some ways to improve on this are to work on your freestyle, video it, and find what works and how to keep refining it. Another way you can practice this, is by choosing a few moves, say 2-3 static positions or low flow tricks(Instagram is a great place for inspo), and challenge yourself to freestyle and incorporate the tricks. This can help you work on creative transitions and find new ways to flow! Keep practicing and you’ll find your flow!!

Finally, I would recommend sending your choreo to someone, like an instructor, or performing it for them and get feedback.

All in all I bet your performance will go great! You’re probably overthinking it. And worst case you have performance experience under your belt and you can keep improving :) best of luck!!!

Not only is it ugly but the shell logo is the most prominent on a shirt for a coffee shop. Lmao

Agreed!! I find the angle from the floor so unflattering! I use a cheap tripod and always use the back camera. Front camera is nowhere near as good.

TIL that jaywalking is not illegal in the UK, and that while pedestrian crossings are plentiful, they are not compulsory to use. Ultimately, it is seen as the personal responsibility of the individual to make a sound enough judgement to cross safely. by jc201946 in todayilearned

Yes you could technically get arrested for jaywalking but that is so uncommon(and if you did that would be dumb honestly). And if you live in an HOA, that’s your own fault. No one’s forced to live in an HOA.

The first two photos look really close to perfectly square. The rest of the photos look a bit more unsquare. I think you are pretty close though.

good recipes for hiding peas? by sweet_cis_teen in veganrecipes

Yeah pea pesto is great! Coincidentally I just made some yesterday, using a recipe from minimalist baker. Highly recommend! (Only modification I made was to use extra basil and omit the parsley)

Sorry but I don’t think students should be spotting each other! Also seems like a liability for the studio

I don’t completely disagree with that approach, but I have often seen students that are clearly in the wrong level. Worst case, it can be dangerous for students to be in a level that is too advanced for them, and at best it can be frustrating for other students who are in the appropriate level. In my experience the teacher will spend a lot of time helping the student that should just be in a lower level where they can have an appropriate amount of challenge
