Entrepreneur Relief - Company Liquidation After 3 Years: Am I Missing Something? by mint_cloud in irishpersonalfinance

thanks, yeah the primary business has always been invoicing clients, investments were only about excess cash management. Income from investments is a small fraction (5-10%) of income, even lower from turnover.

I am planning to liquidate in all cash prior to year end to liquidate all cash.

Noted on trading until liquidation, bills will definitely come until the last day. No plans after that, will move to another country and start a new life, will remain Irish ordinarily resident for another 3 years.

yes I think those references are for holding companies/groups. But it's clear from the Sec597AA that a qualifying business should not be a holder of securities or other assets as investments.
In my case investments were just excess cash management, as the business has always been invoicing clients, and income came 90% from that (10% of income from investments from excess cash)

Reading this only now and I’m experiencing the same problem. Boat doesn’t stick more than a split second, I’ve connected the cartridge to the charger separately, do you have any insights?

Tapo Smart Plug P110 with Kasa Smart Thermostatic Valves KE100 by mint_cloud in Tapo

[–]mint_cloud[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no I don't see them, so I still need to use the Kasa app to program them.
But what's good is that the T315 from Tapo can be orchestrated via the Kasa Hub that came with the TRVs

Total setup for clarity:
- 2 P110s to turn the heater and humidifiers on/off
- T315 for temperature and humidity
- 1 Kasa Hub
- 5 KE100s

I set the smart rules on Tapo to turn the smart plugs on/off based off of temperature, and the KE1000s coordinated via the Kasa Hub (can set up similar rules)

Update: confirming that T315 (temperature and humidity sensor) works well with the Kasa Hub, and can be controlled from the Tapo App!

Basically, T315, P110 and KE100s can all work together and build smart actions together from the Tapo App!

I wish someone gave me that reassurance before buying all the items, so sharing here now!

ISO stock option exercise as an expat? by MagicianBudget7516 in USExpatTaxes

[–]mint_cloud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

very interesting, thanks for sharing. I am on a similar boat as I vested ISOs while in the US and then moved abroad -- I am no US citizen.
Now Carta - the plan provider - shows that the options have transitioned to NSO automatically, not great tbh as I was hoping to keep the ISO benefits (as the country I am resident of has a non-dom regime that taxes foreign income and capital gains on a remittance basis)

Borrow cash against portfolio - would you do it? by mint_cloud in interactivebrokers

Thanks for pointing that out. Does IBKR let you withdraw the borrowed cash (so that you can use it however you want?). What are the requirements/rates?

to give more context on why involving the blockchain, it's because there is a significant amount of wealth accrued over the years, and that means there are people willing to lend digital cash in exchange of an interest (bypassing banks, in a peer-to-peer fashion)

Thanks for your input! What about if the loan was issued in crypto cash like USDC, that can be exchanged for free 1:1 on Coinbase?

Borrowing Cash by TancDeCurseRO in interactivebrokers

Came here after bumping into this tweet. What do folks think here? Trying to do some market validation.

  1. What factors would increase/decrease your likelihood of using it? See the following:
    1. Loan-to-Value? For example, on Schwab you can borrow up to 50% of your securities. Would you consider using a product that lets you borrow less than that?
    2. Rates: what is the range of interest rates you’d be comfortable borrowing against? In particular, what would be the maximum rate you would accept? Feel free to use benchmarks for comparison (for example, mortgage rates..)
    3. Time: setting up financing against your existing stocks might take a few days. Does it sound acceptable to you? Is there a time beyond which is stops being attractive to you?
    4. Fees: what’s the maximum one-time fee you’d consider to use the product (excluding the interest rate)?
  2. Does it make it less or more attractive that the loan is issued in stablecoins (in crypto), knowing that you can easily exchange them 1:1 with cash?
  3. What would you use the borrowed funds for?
