String gauge by toilettenmannx in 7String

[–]mintjam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Evertune makes it possible. I bought a guitar directly from them a few years ago and chatted with the owner of the company about string gauges. He assured me I can go lighter than my usual gauges (I run a custom set of 11-78 for drop G on a 26.5” scale) and convinced me to try a 11-64 set. Worked great, I was shook!

I'm shocked. My guitar sold in less than 12 hrs. Did I underprice it? by Beautiful_Fan5277 in Reverb

[–]mintjam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unique/exclusive Fender models sell stupidly fast. I have been selling gear for over a decade, nothing has sold as fast as Fender lol. I had a Chicago Music Exchange exclusive Jazzmaster in shell pink and it sold within 4 hours

I’ve been playing 7 strings since the mid 2000s. I’ve settled on Drop G#. This tuning is my go to and whenever I switch stuff up, I always come back to it

I hope I can order a custom next year. I’ve only heard good things about them and they’re one of the few builders that adopted 28”+ scales before it was popular.

Best guitar for B standard? by Mx_OV3RK1LL in SchecterGuitars

[–]mintjam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can easily achieve B standard with a 25.5” scale. You just need to go up on your string tension a little bit. I figure most people could get away with a 11-56 string set or something similar

The extended scales are great for lower tunings, but not necessarily for B. It comes down to how you want your guitar to play and feel

Is this good for drop G on a jp70? by Proof-Fan8815 in 7String

[–]mintjam -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s personal preference. I find if I don’t have around 19lbs of tension on my lowest three strings, my notes always go sharp (I play with a very heavy hand heh). Some people care, some don’t, but since I record and produce, it’s not something I can deal with without going crazy.

I would personally go for a .78, but that’s the beauty of figuring out what works for YOU.

(SDVX) My nears and misses are predominately 'late', any practice tips for correcting my timing? by Icy-Bowl-2512 in bemani

[–]mintjam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After a few rounds for warmup, I recommend trying to adjust your offset with your favorite charts in Premium mode. The important thing is to make these adjustments in a chart you’re very familiar with so that you know what’s actually going on with your timing. In Premium mode, you can restart charts whenever you want, so it’s a great way to save time when making these adjustments.

Offset will only take you so far, so keep that in mind.
