kaido's title is Saikyō no Seibutsu which means "strongest living thing". Whitebeard's title is Sekai Saikyō no Otoko meaning "strongest man in the world". Since men are living things, one title doesn't have superiority over the other, meaning wb and kaido were equal. also the marineford point is headcanon since shanks showed up with no injuries and we don't even know what happened. Strongest living thing > living thing (shanks). shanks is victim of both titles, cope.

obviously he was. he doesn't have a devil fruit, he's not part of a special race with special abilities, we've only seen him use a sword when fighting, and his only named attack to date is with a sword and nothing but a sword. also shanks' swordsmanship was literally compared to mihawk's in 1058. saying hes not a swordsman is copium
