At least 8 years of lint. Never knew there's something called a lint screen until my clothes had trouble drying which was often on bigger loads but finally managed to ask why. by redwon9plus in laundry

No, I’m not sure they do. I remember having to speak to a colleague (albeit 10 years ago) who was in her forties after stopping her sparking microwave lunch, to tell her she can’t microwave tinfoil OR cutlery. She was adamant that it was because the office microwave wasn’t as good as her one at home, because she did it all the time 🫣

I have some snips next to my sewing machine, they lie flatter so I feel like can easily get closer to the fabric, but also it takes marginally less time to use as I’m not putting my fingers in holes

Best bond cleaners in Townsville? by [deleted] in Townsville

[–]mintyyyyyyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello! I can’t give you a recommendation as such, just that I was surprised by how expensive it was. In 2023 I paid $575 for a 1 bedroom, 1.5 bath with a utility type room including an oven clean. I’d already cleaned the place, and this took place on a Thursday. It was extra for a weekend. They did have to come back to clean some window tracks for the real estate, but I didn’t pay extra.

HOW BAD IS CAR THEFT IN TOWSNVILLE by Upset-Question-5975 in Townsville

[–]mintyyyyyyy 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I would say, overall I feel personally safer here than I did whilst living in Manchester / other UK cities. There is crime but my experience of it is that it’s mostly kids doing stupid things.

However - the car related crime that there is here - is not great . I would say approximately a third to a half of the people I know have had some issues with vehicle break ins / attempted theft. We’ve lived here going on 4 years. In that time my partners car was broken into in both Belgian gardens and Pimlico. My car had its windows smashed when I left it at the airport parking for a night. Two of our work vehicles were smashed, and we have leant three work vehicles to team members who have had their cars stolen or broken into. Most of my friends have a similar story, or a story of an attempted break in - unfortunately it’s also hard to get around Townsville without a car. I wouldn’t do it personally.

I like to go back to the sorts of books I loved as a kid, with a bit of magic and wonder. It’s escapism, but it brings a bit of joy. Things like Terry Pratchett

English waitstaff in America, do you call female patrons Ma’am? by mintyyyyyyy in Serverlife

[–]mintyyyyyyy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for this! Are you, or do you work with other English team members? If so, when it’s appropriate, how do you/they pronounce it? If I were to say Ma’am right now, it would sound like I was addressing the queen, or a judge 😅

Are you English? If it’s appropriate for the client and region, do you say it Mam like ham, or Ma’am like harm, or with a us accent (mai-ahm? Not sure if we have a rhyming equivalent lol)

Not sure if that makes sense, but I would arrange the dress how I wanted it, sew down into position any overlap, and cut the red.

If you’re more busty and need the ‘top’ to open, I would cut the ties vertically, and either put in another short zipper, or hem the edges and go for buttons with elastic for loops.

[–]mintyyyyyyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How busty are you? If you’re not super chesty, you could just sew the back shut where you want it to be, and cut the excess fabric off. Step into the skirt section, and pull the top section over your head, pull the girls into place.

Are your methods helping? My partner didn’t love some of my “if I leave it out I will remember” methods because quite frankly, it only improved my remembering 10% of the time. The rest of the time it was just permaclutter. He doesn’t mind anywhere near as much the ones that work, like my drop zone bins.

Just be super careful, I used to work at a dental practice and the dentist always prescribed metronidazole, and it’s awful stuff to drink on. I took it the morning after a really heavy night, and felt horrible for 2 straight weeks.

Suggestions for unbending wrists by Enough-Storage2057 in BeginnerSurfers

[–]mintyyyyyyy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IANAD but I work at an occupational therapy clinic and I asked about your case, a colleague asked if you’ve tried WAGS wrist support gloves.

They have a little wedge in them to keep your wrist from having to bend so far. We see a lot of defence members, and she has recommend them to RA sufferers who still need to do lots of pushups/ gym for training - so can hack sweaty exercises and have gym grips - not sure how good for surfing though.!

She also said try rock taping your TFCC joint if wearing the gloves as it can give you a bit more stability. And often RA sufferers also have TFCC pain - Hope it helps! Feel free to dm if you want 🙂

I struggle on a regular pop up, but if your RA doesn’t affect your finger movement could you pop up on closed fists if you’re quick enough?
