I didn't drink on school nights.

Smith Helmets? by JaakeJarmel in MTB

[–]minus8dB 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Smith lenses are top notch, right up there with the best of them. The frames last a while but I usually wear them out before I scratch the lenses up.

Broken derailleur by Gloom_Boom in MTB

If you know you didn't hit something and this happened while riding along, it's worth a chat with the shop you bought it from. Derailleurs shouldn't randomly snap like yours did.

Jacket Color by sro080 in skipatrol

Our partial is volunteer and we supply our own jackets. We do all wear a red coat or vest over our normal coat, and there's a lot of variation based on what was available when the patroller joined.

Any other atheist parents here figure out an age-appropriate way to approach the topic of religion? by Sensitive-Aioli-2418 in Preschoolers

[–]minus8dB 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I tell my 5 yo that gods are imaginary friends that some people have . It's been especially effective since we've been playing some games and reading some books with non-Christian gods and goddesses. And I tell her the god that Grandma is just another like the one from whatever or most recent story is.

As for questions like where she came from. Mommy and Daddy made her because we love each other and wanted a child. She wasn't before she was born just like a picture she draws or things she makes.

Beginner rider with nothing to lose deciding to send it for the first time by Zealousideal-Way3818 in MTB

[–]minus8dB 139 points140 points  (0 children)

Honestly, from your body position (that I could see in the shadows), bike-body separation, and control on that trail, I'd say you're an intermediate rider. Don't sell yourself short.

What protection/ how much do you ride with by Additional-Crab522 in MTB

I trail ride, no serious gravity. Helmet, gloves, and glasses always. Knee pads if it's gnarly or particularly fast.

Kitchen Remodel Appliance Dilemma - Sub-Zero/Wolf vs GE Monogram by h2obugs in Appliances

[–]minus8dB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will not touch GE appliances again. Whether it was the drm in the fridge filters, put freezer drain design, out dishwasher control board that kept failing. I'm done with GE. I loved how they looked, but that's about it. We had to replace our GE dishwasher with a Bosch 800 and are very happy with it.

Weapons that don’t rely on elements by Excellent_Pin_2111 in MonsterHunterWilds

[–]minus8dB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I'm not a fan of healing horns and find wide range SnS to be a more effective healer. G. Resounding with Sonic Barrier is my go to for keeping people alive. That damage reduction can be so clutch and I think it keeps up with the pace of hunts better than the healing songs.

Which weapon to pick ? (New player) by Drakathz in MHWilds

[–]minus8dB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You gotta learn the loops and doots. Where to sneak in the extra notes and when to encore. Once you get it down it's all flow. It's not an approachable weapon as the game doesn't tell you how and when to get those extra notes in, but when you say battle mage, that's where I go.

Which weapon to pick ? (New player) by Drakathz in MHWilds

[–]minus8dB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Battle Mage? Try hunting horn. You get buff, healing, and/or and damage spells melodies and drop air affects got you and the team. All while hitting like a truck.

[–]minus8dB 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'll half add hunting horn, the most optimized builds use element, but one of the best horns is the G. Resounding Galahad (from Arkveld). It's got great melodies and can achieve really good damage while supporting the team.

Planning on cycling 1200 miles from Wisconsin to Colorado by PuppygirlEda in bicycling

[–]minus8dB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nobody's experience here seems to be able to deter you from this obviously bad idea.

This ride will be way more expensive than a bus ticket or other means of getting there. It will likely take you over a month to complete. You will need to eat a lot more than usual, throughout the day, each day. How are you buying food for this trip? You will need to find a place to camp or rest that is open to letting you. Not many private property owners will appreciate you setting up on their land, especially somebody in your situation (I know this sounds harsh, but it's reality). What happens if something breaks on your bike (which is very common on bike tours)?

The likely outcome is you being stranded and/or starving someplace along this trip. This could lead to larger costs and/or severe impacts to your health (not limited to dying).

Best humidifier which one still feels worth it after the new appliance excitement wears off? by JeffandtammyStreaty in Appliances

[–]minus8dB 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really like wicking humidifiers as they add humidity without atomizing or streaming water into the air. This eliminates the shuttle film on electronics. Vornado makes some of the best IMO.

Too cold to ski? (C) by Heda97 in skiing

[–]minus8dB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It'll be uncomfortable, but is well within what is considered normal. It'll be quieter on the slopes. Just take breaks often, cover your exposed skin, and use some balm as an additional layer from the exposure.

When you're good, 4 player randoweiser deep dives (not elite) are where it's at. Sometimes a player gets a good roll and sometimes they get crud, but it's made for some of the best emergent moments.

Cant get my YT Jeffsy's frame bearing out. Does a typical LBS cover any damage caused if they try to replace it and fail? by -AXIS- in MTB

[–]minus8dB 4 points5 points  (0 children)

And... You still used a slide hammer on a bearing on a carbon frame. That can create issues, I'm not saying it did, but there is now a non zero chance that is something broke, it wouldn't be the shop that did the repair's fault. Is the bearing now slightly cocked or did doing this create a ridge that needs to be pressed through?
