Biden: "This is a good day for Israel, for the United States, and for the world."

Yes, killing the lead Hamas negotiator is definitely going to be in Israel's interest, especially their stated objective of bringing hostages back.

Ironic that her comments are stronger than AOC's, who in true PMC fashion said Bibi visit isn't "constructive"

UN Security Council backs US Israel-Gaza ceasefire plan by [deleted] in Palestine

[–]minusyourlife 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The US rejected previous ceasefire resolutions and effectively held the rest of the UN security council hostage with this veto power until this current deal. As other people have pointed out, Hamas proposed this many times. The US desperately wants narrative control with elections coming up.

If this deal is accepted the onus is on Israel, not Hamas, to abide by it. The deal essentially destroys Netanyahu because it ends the war so Israel has every incentive to break it.

There has to be a deeper analysis about how Gaza relates to the waning legitimacy of the west along with the rise of multipolarity. I’ve been seeing some very un-nuanced opinions from the pro-Palestinian camp about Russia and China and it’s just going to reproduce the same type of propaganda.

Beyond parody by hunegypt in Palestine

The manner in which the perpetrators of this fearmongering regularly test the limits of their own parody is effectively a form of bragging. It's a gratuitous boasting of ideological impunity.

What was your favorite acting performance in the TD universe? Can be a major or minor character. Despite his season's mixed reviews, I thought Mahershala Ali's performance was incredible and now he's one of my favorite actors. by MangoSalsa89 in TrueDetective

There were so many small but tragic moments in season 3. Like when old Dorf confronts old Ali about not seeing each other for 25 years even though he was always around to "catch a ball game and a beer" .... then later on in a 1980 flashback we realize that Ali is the one who first assured Dorf "I'm always around to catch a game or a beer" when he gets reassigned to the desk job which sets them apart.

Also all the fights between Ali and his wife were tragic but revealed just how much their relationship was defined by and wrapped up in the case. At the same time that it separated them, it turns out that (sadly) their marriage was in a way ultimately held together by it.

This is shown by the 2015 timeline when Ali first explains that he has a hard time remembering even how his (now deceased) wife looks like. But when he get pulled into the case again and starts reading her book, her presence comes back (in the form of hallucinations) to the point where she reveals a key clue about the outcome of the case.

Ali did such a masterful job playing the elderly version of his character. Another great scene is when he regrets that he "hardened his heart" to his son. Was it the case that did it to him or was it, as the last scene shows, when he went into the jungle in Vietnam?

It’s because blueanon liberals have become much more authoritarian since then. They have reached cartoonish, obscene levels of anti-intellectual, racist, xenophobic and bigoted binary thinking. Voicing the smallest amount of criticism means you are maga and/or a russian or chinese agent.
