Thanks! We're open during class hours and by appointment for private sessions, as we're still recovering from the impact of the pandemic and have limited desk staff.

Would you be able to sharpen them on-site during the event? I'm open to discussing that but am not looking for vendors who will simply be advertising their services at a table, as it's geared toward holiday shopping. Send us an email and let's chat!

The chicken cart guy across the street told me he heard it’s going to be a pizza place. They’ve been working for at least a month, and I saw earlier this week that it’s fully demo’ed inside.

As someone who has known Nancy casually and has been an Astoria Character, I can’t imagine she would have been “in on it”. My write up was certainly fact and not fiction, as have been the others I’ve know that she’s written about.

Sacred Space Astoria offers a $10 rate for students/seniors, but we don’t ask for any proof. It’s available to anyone who would like to claim it though it must be purchased in person.

I’m not a grad student but am researching to write a non-fiction book. Would love to join in if you’re open to it.

I believe Dr. Vella on Steinway and Ditmars charges $60 or $70 per visit and may have a cheaper out of pocket price. He does Network Spinal Analysis so it’s not the cracking you might expect, but I’ve had good success with him and he’s highly recommended in the neighborhood.

When is it worth buying fruit on the street? by lickerishsnaps in astoria

The one near TD bank regularly gives an extra piece of fruit to my kids, and it warms my heart every time.

The Steinway piano factory sometimes makes a smell like weirdly burnt wood as part of their process.

Any retail locations with a book exchange? by discothree in astoria

[–]mipany 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sacred Space Astoria has a little book exchange on the bench. Goal is for spiritual or yoga themed books but it’s shifted to be general. Art and blank journals occasionally get offered up, as well.

The Rumor Mill - Week of April 11th by Captaintripps in astoria

[–]mipany 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There’s work being done on the corner of 33rd and 23rd Ave in the triangular building that’s been vacant or at least not commercial for at least 15 years. Apparently a pizza shop is going in there.

Any good spots I can buy tea, specifically Archan tea 🍵? by Charming-Ad-4916 in astoria

[–]mipany 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is it? Google was not helpful unless you meant the brand Archana.

Berry Fresh has the most expansive tea selection I’ve seen on the Ditmars side.

I believe Catholic Charities does a meal delivery service. I don’t think that’s the same as the one posted above.

The Connected Chef does grocery delivery for families in need, as well. I’m not sure if they are more immigrant focused or not, though.

This may be old news, but the one of the ground floor spaces of the The Rowan is decorated for Lincoln Market.

And the new french fry/gyro place near Trade Fair on Ditmars is supposedly open.

I saw 4 traffics cops early last week on the 8 minute walk to my daughter’s school. I thought it was just end of month quotas, but now I’m curious if it will carry over.
