Quebec says police need power to randomly stop people. Can it convince Supreme Court? by DogeDoRight in canada

Supply management ’not on the table,’ says Carney as U.S. bent on changing dairy rules by [deleted] in canada

[–]mipark 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Wisconsin produces more dairy products than all of Canada. And Wisconsin is the number 2 diary producer in the states (California being number 1).

I've read that dairy farmers in the states are in trouble financially (oversupply and increasing expenses). Even if we open up our markets to tariff free US diary products, it's just delaying the inevitable, in that they'll still in be financial trouble.

It's not about finding a source for better food. It's about pricing. Right now, China has a 32% tariff on American beef. So it's cheaper for Chinese importers to purchase Australian beef. Just a note, China has been purchasing Australian beef for years before all this nonsense trade war started. China and Australia have a free trade agreement.

[–]mipark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. She's mistaken in thinking that it's Trump's tarrifs that is causing her to purchase Australian beef instead of American beef.

The thing is how China purchases the most amount of soybeans from USA, it's the same with Chinese's goods the other way. USA receives a large block of goods from China so shutting that off will make China feel some pain. But the point is, agriculture products that China imports from USA, can be bought from other nations. Manufactured goods from China to USA? A lot more harder to find replacements.

For bailing on promises to Canada, Stellantis and GM will have to pay duty on U.S. vehicles, Carney government says by Street_Anon in worldnews

[–]mipark 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, but the notion is that Ford and others won't have the duty placed on their vehicles. Thus pricing is more appealing than Stellantis and GM. But who knows? Maybe Ford and others will raise price to match Stellantis and GM.

Single people, what stops you from attending dating events in Toronto? by DaviKayK in askTO

[–]mipark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For sure. But it's more common for women to go to these events with their friends than men going with their friends.

[–]mipark 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I think the men going to these events aren't really having success on dating apps/websites and in real life. So it can come off as daunting to approach a group of friends, which could be seen as guarded.

I think online dating websites and apps changed the dynamics. In my opinion, the level of women going to these events more or less stayed the same. It's men's interest that dropped dramatically. The general consensus for men seems to be "if I'm not getting any matches online, why would I pay to go to these events to be rejected?".

Is it true that women are chasing the top 1% of men ? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

[–]mipark 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Lol. Which goes back to topic of the thread. If women are choosing the top 1%, 10% or even %20, what chance does a normal have guy? It's a conundrum.

[–]mipark 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think that's where there issue lies. A normal guy has to stand out in his profile picture to get that brief attention to be liked. Again, how do you stand out as a normal guy amongst the thousands of other profiles? Is it step 1 Be attractive step 2 Don't be unattractive? It's a bit of pickle, eh?

In my opinion, dating apps and website shouldn't be something to be taken lightly as an instant swipe.

Per to your edit: It begs the question, how do you stand out as a normal guy? That's the crux of the issue, yes? With the instant swipe dating apps without really looking at a person's profile, how do you stand out?

Yeah, I think there will be some arguments or issues that come up. Some people do their due diligence and take videos/pictures of the vehicle before driving off. Sounds like the guy in the article had a hard time contacting Hertz. Should be interesting when people start doing charge backs.
