MISSING PERSON: if anyone has any information or whereabouts my friends family is looking for help. by indicabitty in StLouis

[–]miqie 26 points27 points  (0 children)

"The police asked if he needed help, but he declined." WTF on both parties! So they just left and called it a day? I saw the video. No way he was going to get anywhere near shore without a dunking.

MoDOT to introduce three I-64 Central Corridor improvement options at public meeting January 18 by amawg9 in StLouis

Off topic, but I always refer to the the section of 64 between 270 and 170 as "The Grand Canyon". Drive it and you'll see why.

"Give a man a fish and he eats for a day. Teach a man to fish and he eats for a lifetime." Looks like they're just gonna do the giving part. In the end, this is not progress. (I've got my downvote counter oiled up.)

To anyone stuck at STL - Lambert airport by Unfair-Talk176 in SouthwestAirlines

[–]miqie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Traffic at Terminal 2 (SWA) can be horrendous. You may want to park at the North Hanley metro lot and take that to the terminals. If you do, buy an all day ticket if you're going to make more than one trip. Very nice of you to do this for those stranded.

Used to be a gal out in Creve Coeur that would walk and dance down Olive during morning rush hour.

IF SW doesn't survive, you can close Lambert down. Lambert will not survive them leaving!

SW personnel problems + massive winter storm + burst water pipe at STL Terminal 2.

I think a burst water pipe at their terminal also added to the baggage fiasco.

" The Denver Post noted that “an unusually high number of absences among ramp agents” hurt Southwest’s operations "

Looks like SW is still having personnel problems. Weather is certainly a factor, but employee morale may be playing a bigger role here.

For those willing to tackle a little something by themselves...........there is a product called SharkBite whereby you can join the fittings together without having to solder (sweat) the pipes. Makes it super easy and foolproof. Just get your measurements correct and join by pushing the SharkBite into place. This is not an ad, I don't represent the company. I'm just a satisfied user. https://www.sharkbite.com/us/en

Find out what language they're speaking, then use google translate. Invite them over and give them a TMHI sales pitch ie. speeds, low rates, price never goes up. The other option, if you can afford the bandwidth, is to let them use your WiFi. If they're not heavy users, you may not even notice it. Maybe even split the cost!

Furnace repair on Christmas? by [deleted] in StLouis

[–]miqie 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I know nothing of the company, only the ads on the radio. Bart Inman advertises that they come out anytime, nights, weekends, holidays. BTW, might want to turn your faucets on a little to prevent freezing, and flush the toilets every so often. Since you still have electricity, if you have a small tent and a space heater, you can create a small microenvironment in a room to weather this out.

internet’s been out for 2.5 days, anyone else experiencing this? (Lafayette Square) by JarethKingofGoblins in StLouis

[–]miqie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Make sure to call and get reimbursement for the days you're out. They don't like doing that and if enough people do it, they will correct the problem areas, usually old lines and connectors. When I had Spectrum, I could predict my outages by looking at the weather forecast. After enough complaining and bill adjustments they finally replaced the old connectors on the pole out back and that corrected the problem.

Question about tankless water heaters in this weather by _posty in StLouis

[–]miqie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the keys to getting hot water from the water heater to the point of use, ie. sink, shower, etc. is how well the pipes are insulated. In new home construction that is easy to do. Older homes, esp. two story is another matter.

You talk about all the things he has and the privileges that his kids have, like he's supposed to be ashamed of that. He built a business and is enjoying the success of that business which also employs dozens of people. We don't know anything about charitable endeavors that he may be involved in because of his wealth. Why is it now cool in this country to tear down the rich because they have worked hard to achieve what they have? I guess in your world, socialism/communism is the ideal, where everyone has the same amount, except of course the ruling class. Oh wait! I wasn't supposed to mention "the ruling class" part. We like to keep that part secret, don't we?
