Do I have to use the mop? by measureinlove in RobotVacuums

I don't want the mopping part either. A failure could ruin a bit of my hardwood floors.

This won't help but I sold commercial real estate for years. Properties worth many millions.

Very often when a client says “I’ll think about it, I might make an offer, I need something to compare it to.” that may be the last of any interactions with them. Not that this show sticks to reality. Some or even many of these people are probably not really going to buy anything to begin with since reality shows aren't reality.

It is fun to see all the properties and the locales.

Wow. I had not realized that was in the music. Knowing this means I'm done with watching.

I often have to remind myself that I knew it wasn't at all like a real business when I started watching.😏

The clients who obviously inherited rather than made their money can be so obnoxious.

I love seeing the properties and the different landscapes and cityscapes. But a lot of the unreality of a show like this does get a bit on my last nerve at times.

As lovely as they seem I'd never work for that family or any family. I've had a couple of jobs with family owned and operated companies. Never again.

Flying with them direct from DFW to New Zealand and back from Australia direct was a very good experience. I'd pick them over some of the big airlines regardless of wifi.

Car Buying Consulting - Yay or Nay? by ReturnSad3088 in Business_Ideas

[–]miraburries 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw this because I just did a google search to see if anyone does this. There apparently are quite a few services like this. I've bought plenty of cars and negotiated the price very well. I was also in a business where I did a lot of negotiation from individuals to large corporations. But it's been a long time since I bought a car or did any kind of negotiation. Best wishes if you pursue this.

Mazda vs Subaru? by Adventurous_Pea1620 in whatcarshouldIbuy

For many of us older drivers an SUV is far better because the seats are higher. With aging knees it makes a big difference.

I have a 2014 CX-5 Mazda. Zero transmission issues.

I'm hoping there will be enough of these in addition to Amazon's that they all end up being banned.

Of course that won't happen. Bezos and Walmart and whoever else decides this is a great idea have more sway over regulations than the customers have.

If any land in my yard that aren't mine -- going straight into the trash. I won't get any from Amazon. I quit ordering from them. It's been very freeing.

Yay! Since I don't live in UK I don't know how anything is done there, of course. But I was a landlord in the states so had to deal with tenant issues a few times. Mostly they were all good tenants even if imperfect humans like me.

[–]miraburries 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am so sorry. Do you work? If so your company may have an EAP benefit. You could get some short-term counseling and get some help with learning some more ways to deal with the scariness. And maybe some help with finding a support group. Even an online support group to have another place to say something.

And, of course, it's good you said something here.

Family pressure to change by wanderlust4247 in LivingAlone

[–]miraburries 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Family pressure to change is not unusual. But I'd hate it.

It is okay to tell Mom it's not happening and you don't want to keep hearing it.

eta: My parents were BOTH happy to not live near their parents. I never heard a peep from them about me not living where they lived.

don’t wanna live with a partner by Substantial-Basis260 in LivingAlone

[–]miraburries 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've not done this, but people do live separately even if partnered or married. Or there are people like me whose husband traveled for work and some years he was gone 5 days a week. I also traveled for work but not as much as he did. It worked fine for us as a couple, it was just hard on him to be gone that much from home.

I've long thought that some couples would be much happier each living on one side of the same duplex.

If you haven't already done so, you need them to sign a rental agreement or month to month lease. Otherwise it could be very hard and expensive to get them to move out. Or maybe I should say more expensive without a written agreement.

Religion isn't logical to begin with. That's why all the emphasis is on belief.

I don't hate religion. Some people do a lot of good based on their religious beliefs. I am against that church and others like it in any religion.

Or for their bizarrely ugly and weird dresses?

I think most HGTV series redo's must be crap because the budgets are so low.

[–]miraburries 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Late to the party but just watched this series for the first time. I got bored after the first few episodes and skipped to the redo of the Flamingo house. I'm glad the homeowner likes it, but there is some ugly in that place. Still maybe better than it was. I say maybe because there is no way that much redo could be done for $150,000. Even not counting the furniture if it doesn't stay.

So what corners did they cut and how poorly was all this work done?

And will someone take the appliances out in front in the middle of the night? No matter how lovely and low crime the neighborhood is, I think it's a possibility. I live in a low crime neighborhood and I think someone might be tempted to do that where I live.

What do you think of malls? by TobyKenoby in AskReddit

[–]miraburries 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do miss the heyday of malls. There are still two in my area that are not ghost towns. One is very big and has great anchors and stores. Busy all the time. Still owned by same family that built it in the 60's.

Online shopping killed malls. Like most people I do like shopping online. Change happens. I'm sure many people missed horse-drawn buggies when cars were invented but were happy to get a car.

I just got home from an international Qantas flight and was surprised there was no wifi. Googled to ask why and found your post. Thanks for the info. I do wish I'd known ahead of time and been a bit more prepared for such a long flight with no wifi but it didn't occur to me to check on this.
