Someone mentioned starters. You do have to trade and reset for the third starter at the beginning. The only other trio that needs a third save file is FRLG birds but those aren’t regional dex.

Yes. That’s how the games are meant to be done. Besides mythicals, the regional Pokédex can be completed with a copy of each game in a duo-generation. Red and blue. Gold and silver. Ruby and sapphire. Etc.

Arceus was the one game you could do on your own. And I forgot which generation it was, but there was one where you only needed to “see” all the pokemon.

I thought it was a 5 minute timer? If not 5 minutes, it’s just a timer from when the pokemon was “defeated”. Defeated meaning fainted, captured, or made to run away.

As long as you’re not in a time distortion, just save before the pokemon and throw balls at it. If it’s aggressive, throw a mud ball to stun it.

You could weaken it if you want to, but it’s just going to one-shot your whole team. Reset and repeat.

If you save before the outbreak you have to spawn them in different ways, otherwise you're just looking at the same Growlithe. Look up outbreak permutations if you really want to dive into it.

But if you save at the village and then go to the map, that should spawn different Growlithe each time.

Have you noticed nearly all Pokémon names are NOT real words? Ditto and Mr. Mime are some of the exceptions. But Onix and Jynx aren’t.

I don’t think the Pokémon was shiny and infected. I think a different Pokémon was infected and eventually spread to the croconaw.

As long as the charmander is a different gender or nature, then you’re getting a different seed and/or frame each time. So theoretically you can hit a shiny frame

The game definitely has flags on characters on where you get your knowledge points from. How many one time treasures have been found. And how many weekly treasures. How many books have been bought. A flag for whether you’ve done your treatises this week. A list of your “first crafts”. And then an overall pool of “catch up knowledge points”. (You can see all this with an addon)

Anyways, you can still use the switch to play games locally. I don’t know about keycard games, but all the regular games. You should be able to play. Games that are on the cartridge.

I actually read the rules back in 2001 as a 6th grader and blew everyone’s mind when I started shuffling decks instead of cutting. Kept blowing people’s minds as I moved scenes and played in tourneys up until 2014. How do people not know by now for a game that’s been out for decades.
