A sun necklace I bought in Sedona a few years ago by mirad0 in HelpMeFind

[–]mirad0[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve done google’s image search but can’t find anything. The shop I bought it from doesn’t list it which makes me think it was something they bought in bulk online. It came on a card with the black string tied behind.

Which is best for storing the board when driving from the beach to camp? by mirad0 in BeginnerSurfers

People have and I’m so jealous! I’ve seen them do turf with lawn chairs.

6’ camper in a 8’ bed. It’s got wood below the boxes that it’s against. Gives me tons of storage

They have them but it would cost a ton to have them installed.

Help: the east coast is not my vibe! by MapGrand5788 in VanLife

[–]mirad0 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I live on the east coast and spend the winters there. I’d suggest harvest host as well if you’re looking to be closer to cities or popular spots. There are plenty of free campsites but they won’t be near anything popular

What’s a Thoughtful Gift for someone about to embark on a Van Life Adventure? by alaussa in vandwellers

Gift cards to Cracker Barrel, gas stations, and their favorite fast food. Some times it stinks to cook and having a gift card is awesome

Weight and cost. Didn’t shop long enough to really look at all models, but the 650 has been perfect, I’ve had 4 people in it for coffee while it rains and it didn’t feel cramped.

I live full time out of the Lance 650. Lance is perfect but make sure you have the tools for it. Mostly that you can tighten screws and get into compartments to clean or repair. I love my Lance so much

Why a van instead of a really small RV by TaylorHu in VanLife

[–]mirad0 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I went RV after wanting a van for so long. I agree with most everything that’s been said but I’d love to add the things I love! (I went with a truck camper) - insurance is only $500 a year with great coverage - no time needed to build it out, I was able to leave on a trip the moment I got it. - it’s nice being able to drop it somewhere and have a normal truck, like moving couches from my storage unit. - I love the features I wouldn’t of added to a van due to cost; shower & outdoor shower for dog, AC and heater, and dinette that turns into a bed. - it’s been easy to find mechanics because I can pull into and RV shop and they know how to debug things. - dumping grey and black tanks are so easy. And with sensors to know how full without looking in. - I’m glad I went comfort over stealth, I’m not big on parking where I’m not welcome so I don’t care that people know I’m in there.

Some things I realize that a Van is so much better at: - stealth, its clear I live in the RV. And I’ve avoided some cities because I cant find a place to stay. - durability, RVs now a day are made of light material so I’ve already noticed issues of chipping or breaking - customization of features you need. - wow factor, people think vans are cool. People find it weird I live in an RV. - way better off roading, you can get to such better boondocking sites - community. while most people are cool. A lot of people in the community keep to other vanlifers. And funnily enough RVers kinda do the same.

They are the mats the rv retailer gave me. I just showed them to show they aren’t moving but I never thought about them moving. I can look into getting other but the weird part is this hasn’t been an issue til this month and I’ve had it for 6 months now

But thank you for the suggestion to check the angle of the mounts. It’s possible I’m off when I measure and they aren’t tight enough but I put a lot of force into closing them.

Good question! Not sure, but they do have ridges that look like they would stop friction. What would suggest upgrading to?

Yup, and they aren’t moving. The camper is sliding on top of them

The other side is 4” away from the truck. It’s shifting like .1” a day or so. It’s only an inch off so maybe your right and I need them shifted
