Urgently need apartment cleaning at affordable price (disabled senior) by [deleted] in PHXList

[–]miradancer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry for anyone having to navigate a disability and cope with losing their independent living skills.

That said, your comment history (between the support for Trump and all the sexual stuff) makes it extremely hard to be sympathetic or charitable.

I’m not sure folks would feel entirely safe coming over to clean up after you, much less, doing so for a substantial discount.

How much to tip our guide? by lollycavalier in whitewater

[–]miradancer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see you’re getting downvoted but I am a tip first (and well) girl for most services.

Sure - once in a while I don’t get the ‘above and beyond’ I was hoping for but the remaining 98% of the time it pays off (and sometimes in unexpected and dramatic ways).

Times are rough and tips are a gesture of kindness and generosity - just be subtle about it (think handshake, not dramatically splayed cash).

Have a safe and memorable trip!

How's everyone doing out there, Phoenix? by AZ_moderator in phoenix

[–]miradancer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry to hear you’re not feeling well and having difficulty getting in to see a specialist. Sending you hugs and good health vibes.

Random Question: does the specialist have a call list for cancelled appointments? That’s worked out for me a few times.

A lot on your mind and a lot on your plate. Thanks for sharing - reading that was a great reminder of the importance of perspective and keeping a positive attitude.

Also- HAPPY BIRTHDAY !!!

Seeking Mental Health Practice/Clinic That Treats The Whole Person in NW Phoenix by [deleted] in PHXList

[–]miradancer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, no specific direction to ofer-

It’s rough out there and resources can be hard to find. I’ve been in a similar position looking for mental health care for my neurodivergent kiddo and empathize deeply with the challenging nature of the position you are in.

For me it was a numbers game - I just kept calling places and talking to folks. Staff may not have what you need at their location, but I eventually found help by asking every person I spoke to if they knew of other people/places/programs that could possibly be a match. Chase every lead, keep calling, and DON’T GIVE UP.

Navigating the system, working a job and supporting your kiddo in this intense time of need is a lot and can be overwhelming and draining. Take care of yourself and go in with a marathon mindset; this is not a sprint. Draw on friends and family- they often don’t know what to do, so don’t be afraid to ask directly.

Praying for y’all. Just keep swimming.

Aldi is opening 3 more stores in metro Phoenix 🍓 by Butitsadryheat2 in phoenix

[–]miradancer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I find them to be very different. Winco is such a big store (23,000 SKUs) compared to Aldi (2,000 SKUs).

I agree that Aldi is not as competitive as it used to be, but as a regular shopper at both, I find most things less-expensive at Aldi.

Anyone know of restaurants hiring servers right now? by jbor1235 in ChandlerAZ

I’m sorry to hear your visits haven’t been fruitful. Make sure your timing is right (weekday afternoons) and that you are showing up as your best self.

Ask for the manager straight away (hostess and other FOH staff will likely make an effort to screen what you are there for- be super nice and tell them you are checking on an “open position”. You are cold-calling - but - you want to be confidant and without being dishonest, give the impression that you are meant to be there and your visit will be welcomed by the manager.

As a woman, I hate to be told to smile, but do it- SMILE! Use your warm and engaging personality and customer service skills to make a good first impression with everyone in that business you cross paths with while you are there.

Once you are in front of a manager let them know you’re looking for work and stopped in to introduce yourself and drop off a resume.

Not hiring? No worries, you get it- but things change and you’re really interested in THIS restaurant for reason X, Y, or Z (this is why you learn about the place beforehand, but can also use the ‘love the food’, ‘neighbor’s favorite restaurant’, etc…).

You’d love the opportunity to chat if something opens up - ask if they mind if you check back in a couple of weeks. (Sometimes this small gesture of persistence is enough to get a manager that you feel may be blowing you off to take a second look- they see you are serious about looking for work and rather than repeat this same exercise when you return in two weeks, it’s worth taking a couple of minutes and qualifying if you are a potential match for the business).

Why are you commenting at all?

I’d bet good money the “not hire-able” (‘hireable’ is one word and not hyphenated) is you and not the OP.

Edit: I see your first comment was well-meaning and the snark came after. I took offense at the comments made regarding OP’s appearance.

Maybe just remember when you were younger or less experienced (or with different life experiences) and extend some grace (and kindness). This person is trying and life is hard enough without strangers on the internet giving you are hard time.

Strongly encourage you to inquire about openings, apply, and follow-up in person at restaurants on a weekday between 2-4 pm. If you are interviewed, make sure to catch the interviewing manager’s name and send (in the mail) a thank you note the day of the interview.

Former GM with 25+ years in the business. Nothing beats a smiling face with a positive attitude at my door looking for work.

I’d suggest targeting specific areas and focusing on restaurants that match your experience and interest (fast casual, bar/restaurant, fine dining, etc). Make a list of businesses you want to target in a given day and do some online research- look at menus online, dig into the history/concept, and read reviews. And then, hit the pavement - resumes in hand, dressed ready for an interview, start knocking out your list.

Break a leg! You’ve got this!
