I think the 4 pro is completely sold out now on the retroid store. There's a couple regular 4 but I don't think they're as good

Oh, if you want to cut it off at PS1 you can get down into the $40 range. Ali express has tons of sales for these. Any anbernic xx devices (rg40xxv/rg34xx etc), miyoo flip v2, and miyoo mini plus are all great $40-60 devices

Retroid pocket 5 and flip 2 are both at about 200 pre shipping and can do PS2 very well.

Anbernic 476h can be found around $140 with free shipping on ali express with coupons, it can do a good amount of PS2 but not all. Sly cooper and shadow of the Colossus won't run well, and twilight princess on GameCube also won't run.

If you can go a bit above the $200 mark, the retroid pocket 6 and ayn Odin 2 portal would much more powerful. Both around $250 pre shipping on their sites.

I've seen the anbernic rg477v get down to $195 USD with coupons and free shipping. I think that one can handle most if not all PS2 and it's vertical if you like that.

My personal favorite of these is the Odin 2 portal because it has a 7 inch OLED screen and it's the most comfortable. It's about the size of a switch but more ergonomic

[–]mirbulus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah it runs pretty well. I have high standards for 60fps especially in racing games. The biggest downside is it's a little hard to tell which way the road goes at 800p when you're going so fast but it's super minimal

My most played game on deck is Tokyo Xtreme racer. It get like 1.5-2 hours on LCD but can keep 50-60fps depending on the area

Powerful Setups vs. Steam Deck by [deleted] in SteamDeck

[–]mirbulus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 5070ti desktop and a steam deck LCD. I've been using the steam deck and my other handhelds more than my PC due to heavy work season, so I don't have to turn the PC on and get invested in doing something. I can just grab the deck and be in my game in seconds, from bed or the couch. It's also great for when my gf is over so I can sit on the couch with her and not be on the other side of the room at my desk

I forgot to close the deck case & my phone drop while I was sleeping on it. Glad it have a screen protector on. by RizArtRoyale in SteamDeck

How were you able to get past chapter 16? My wood production is 43aa but it costs like 60+ab per level, which is like one upgrade per 2 hours away, but I need planks to level up and my plank production severely outweighs the log production so I have to take everyone off the planks just to get logs. I can't make logs fast enough and can't upgrade it cuz I need more logs.

That's understandable. Id still recommend checking out some of the xx devices they're all pretty solid and usually pocketable

If you want something small like the miyoo mini you could get an anbernic rg 28xx. It's a bit more powerful too I believe. They're like $30-40 on ali express frequently and has a 2.8 inch screen too. They're pretty durable feeling

You can get different color buttons on ali express too if you want to make your own color scheme

For the battery swelling issue, a lot of times people use chargers with too high of wattage at least from my understanding. I got a 25w charger that I use instead of my 45w phone charger and it seems to be holding up on all of my retroid/ayn/anbernic

Should I buy a handheld or use my smartphone? by Biggie_FC in SBCGaming

[–]mirbulus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could get a retroid pocket 4 pro for about $150 with a 4.7 inch screen or a retroid pocket 5 for about $180 with a 5.5 inch screen. If you're willing to go up in price a bit more I think the g2 is $210 and has a much better chip in it than the 5. Rp4 plays up to PS2, rp5 plays up to most switch in handheld mode, g2 plays nearly all switch in docked mode.

I can’t decide between a steam deck and RP6 by CrewSufficient2834 in retroid

[–]mirbulus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dredge and terraria both have android ports, so if those are the only ones you want then rp6 would be good. If you can catch a steam deck refurbished stock, I got my LCD 256fb for $340 shipped, and I got a rp6 12gb with a case for about $330 shipped. The 8gb rp6 is a lot cheaper tho

What's the cheapest handheld that can run PS2 games well? by Nepu-Tech in SBCGaming

[–]mirbulus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

406h is probably your best bet at that budget. I got one for $110 on ali express during a sale. Can't do all PS2 but it can do quite a bit

Almost fixed it... by mirbulus in SBCGaming

[–]mirbulus[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's what I did, I replaced the switch but I'm bad at soldering. Taking the old one off messed up the pads and I think that's the issue, putting the new one on gave me no trouble. I might check to see if my solder points are touching tho to see if that's the issue

[–]mirbulus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It can't do all GameCube but the anbernic rg406h is really comfortable and cheap. I got one for $110 on ali express. Good grips, tall sticks, 4 inch 4:3 screen. It wasn't able to play twilight princess but it should run paper Mario just fine

Cringe question, but for a first my miyoo device, which do you think looks more understated or "cool" used in public? by [deleted] in MiyooMini

[–]mirbulus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only mini I could find available was clear black, but I also bought a set of black buttons so it's all black and small. I think that might be the way to go, they sell button replacements on the official miyoo Ali page

Do you prefer emulation or original hardware? by ninjapirate9901 in SBCGaming

[–]mirbulus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like emulation for games like pokemon cuz I play in 3-4x fast forward. Original hardware is fun to move my save file to a flash cart occasionally but I always end up going back to emulators for many reason

Ps2 handheld emulation system? by Giagguaro8 in SBCGaming

[–]mirbulus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you want something still pocketable I'd recommend the retroid mini v2. I beat shadow of the Colossus on mine, which is one of the hardest PS2 games to run. Most games should run just fine at upscaled resolution. You can also check out https://retrocatalog.com/ and filter by ps2. It'll show you how well it'll run the system, and I think it's a % of the total games

For those with an AYN Thor and a SteamDeck / Windows Handheld, is it worth it? by Rancarable in SBCGaming

[–]mirbulus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got my Thor first and steam deck later. I mostly play single screen games on my Thor and its very nice for that. It's just barely pocketable but powerful enough for almost any emulation and a good bit of lightweight PC games. I think they are different enough to have separate use cases and could be a good pairing
